Design
Sony A95L: leg stands adjustable in height
The Sony A95L has leg stands on the side of the screen. You can only adjust these leg stands in height. In the lowest setting, the screen rests on the stand. If you place a soundbar in front of the TV, you can raise the screen a little bit. That way, the soundbar isn't in front of the screen.
Sony Bravia 8: adjustable in height and width
The Bravia also has 2 separate leg stands, just like the A95L. You can adjust these leg stands in height and in width. You can place them closer together if your screen is larger than your TV cabinet, for example. That way, it's still firmly in place. You can adjust the height of the stand if you place a soundbar in front of your TV.
Sony A90K: stand adjustable in height
The Sony A90K has a round, flat stand. Thanks to the flat stand, the screen almost rests on the surface. You can lift the screen to make space between the surface and the screen. That way, you can create space for a soundbar.
Image quality
Sony A95L: bright colors thanks to quantum dots
The OLED screen of the A95L has an extra Quantum Dot layer. This means there's a layer with thousands of tiny particles over the backlight. These particles all transmit their own color, so the TV displays extra bright and realistic colors. This provides the best viewing experience, especially if you watch a lot of movies.
Sony Bravia 8: no quantum dots
The Sony Bravia doesn't have quantum dots. As a result, the color gamut of this television isn't as large as that of the A95L. The television does support Dolby Vision, so you can still enjoy immersive colors. Thanks to the low 5.8ms input lag, the Bravia 8 is also very suitable fort gamers. You barely notice a delay between the controller and the action on-screen, so you can game effortlessly.
Sony A90K: no quantum dots
The Sony A90K also doesn't have a Quantum Dot layer, but it does have Dolby Vision. This means the colors look less realistic than on the A95L. The television has a 8.5ms input lag. This higher than the input of the Bravia 8, so you notice a bit more of a delay. For the non-professional gamer, this 8.5ms input lag is fine.
Sound
Sony A95L: 4 channels, 60W
The Sony A95L has 4 speakers with a 60W power. This provides the most powerful sounds. You hear voices clearly when you're watching a movie or talk show. Thanks to the built-in subwoofer, sound effects like an explosion in an action movie sound immersive. This TV also has Acoustic Surface Audio. As a result, it sounds like the audio is coming from the part of the screen where the action takes place. If something happens on the right side of the screen, that's where the audio comes from.
Sony Bravia 8: 5 channels, 50W
The Sony Bravia 8 has Acoustic Surface Audio and a built-in subwoofer, just like the Sony A95L. It has 5 speakers, but a lower power than the A95L. As a result, the audio sounds slightly less powerful. You can still clearly hear most voices. If you like to watch exciting movies, we recommend a separate soundbar for an extra immersive viewing experience.
Sony A90K: 3 channels, 25W
Just like the A95L and the Bravia 8, the A90K has Acoustic Surface Audio and a built-in subwoofer. The television has 3 speakers with a 25W power. This means the sounds of this TV is the least powerful. We always recommend a separate soundbar with this television, so you can clearly hear voices and sound effects.
Conclusion
The Sony A95L, Bravia 8, and A90K are all OLED TVs, which allow you to enjoy razor-sharp images with a strong contract contrast. If you often watch movies and documentaries, we recommend the A95L. This TV has the most realistic colors and the most powerful sounds. This results in a very immersive viewing experience. Is the color gamut less important to you? The Bravia 8 is also a good choice.
