What I first notice, is that the printer is larger than I expected. I have a relatively small desk, and it doesn't fit on it. This means I have to place it on a separate table. The printer has a stylish appearance with nice colors. You can tilt the control panel towards you, which makes it easy to use. The printer has a separate paper tray for photo paper.

I use the HP Smart app on my phone for the setup of the printer. The app guides you through the setup step by step. This makes it easy to do. Via the app, the printer automatically connects to my WiFi network. That way, I don't have to enter my WiFi password manually. The printer also asks me if I want to use the 6 months of free HP Instant Ink. In the next paragraph, I'll share my experience with this.

I signed up for this, because I'd like to print a lot of photos. Via the HP website, it was quite easy to sign up. I received a message right away that the cartridges are on their way. I got them about a week later, even before my current cartridges were empty.

I print photos with 2 types of photo paper, duplex matte and glossy. The duplex photo paper is useful for printing cards, because it allows you to print a nice text on the back of the photo. I do find the colors a little flat on this paper, and the photo isn't that sharp either. On the glossy paper, the photo looks a lot sharper. The colors of the photo also look a lot better on the glossy paper.

The ENVY Photo Inspire 7224e is a versatile printer. I use automatic duplex printing to save paper. The printer prints on both sides of the paper in this mode, and turns the paper around automatically. The scan and copy function also work without problems. I can use the camera of my phone to scan documents and send them to the printer to print them right away. The printer doesn't have an automatic document feeder. This makes the printer less suitable if you often copy large documents.

I can easily print with the HP Smart app. With this app, you can adjust the settings of the printer and you can see a useful overview of all the functions of the printer. You can also easily print photos from the app and even add fun frames or texts. You can also print smoothly without the HP software, thanks to Apple AirPrint and WiFi Direct. You can't check the ink level in the app. You're redirected to the website for this.
