First impression of the LG C4
The first thing that strikes me about the C4 are the vibrant colors on the screen. The colors truly splash off the screen, which really impresses me. Another thing that catches my eye right away is the sturdy stand at the bottom of the TV. The solid construction ensures the TV stays firmly in place.
Colorful images
The C4 has a colorful and bright screen. OLED evo technology provides a wide color palette. When I watch a nature documentary, I can recognize all the subtle color differences in a tiger's fur. This creates a very realistic effect. The intelligent Alpha 9 processor makes the image even more detailed. When watching a fast-paced action scene, even fast movements look razor-sharp.
Strong contrast
Thanks to OLED technology, the contrast is impressively strong and black is truly black. That's because each pixel lights up and dims individually. I can see some colorful images where the difference in contrast is clearly visible. This OLED series has a Brightness Booster that enhances bright colors up to 20% more than the LG OLED starter models.
Room-filling sound
The TV also has excellent sound, which I noticed while watching a concert. Thanks to Dolby Atmos sound technology, I can enjoy spatial sound. This technology bounces the sound back into the room via the walls and ceiling, which makes it seem like the effects are coming from different directions. I do miss a deep bass and powerful sound, because the TV doesn't have a built-in soundbar and subwoofer. For an immersive TV experience, I highly recommend an external soundbar with a subwoofer.
Good viewing angle
Another advantage of OLED is that the viewing angle is always very good. That's because the light sources are close to the screen surface. When I stand in front of the TV at a sharp angle, I can still see bright colors and a strong contrast. This is useful when you're sitting in front of the TV with a large group of friends or family. Everyone has a good view of an exciting football match this way. Thanks to the high brightness, I also hardly have any problems with reflections on the screen.
Smart Platform
The WebOS 24 Smart Menu has a clear overview. The home screen opens a selection of popular apps, such as Netflix and Disney+. Below that, I can see a list of recommended movies and series. This makes it easy for me to quickly select what I want to watch, which reduces my time scrolling through the Smart Menu. Another advantage of the new WebOS 24 Smart Platform is the built-in Chromecast. This lets me stream content from my phone to the TV quickly and easily.
