Which WiFi expansion do you need for your Telekom Speedport?
If you have a DSL or fiber optic connection from Telekom, you'll get a Speedport modem. This modem has built-in WiFi. But you still don't have WiFi in your whole home. Do you want to extend the signal? You can do that with a mesh system, powerline adapter, access point, or WiFi repeater. We'll tell you all about that in this article.
Mesh WiFi system
A mesh WiFi system consists of multiple stations. You can distribute these WiFi points over multiple rooms and floors. This way, you can set up stable WiFi in your whole home. The mesh systems can be connected by wire or wirelessly. It allows you to always switch to the best WiFi point. The wireless internet from Telekom won't drop away anymore. The installation and configuration are easy. For mesh systems, you can do that via a clear app.
Powerline adapter
With powerline adapters, you can set up extra WiFi points in different spots in your home. These adapters are connected to each other via the power grid. This way, these WiFi extenders also work in homes with thick walls and where you can't use cables. Choose a powerline adapter with seamless roaming to switch automatically. This way, your phone or laptop is always connected to the WiFi. Even when you walk around your home.
Access point
Do you want complete control over your WiFi network? Choose access points. These WiFi points are specially designed for a business environment, but they also work at home. Connect an access point to your Telekom router via a network cable. That means you always have to run a cable to another floor. This does provide a strong WiFi signal. With an access points, you get many settings options. That also means this WiFi extender isn't suitable for beginners.
WiFi repeater
With a WiFi repeater, you can extend the coverage of your Telekom WiFi network by 1 or 2 rooms. Place a WiFi repeater in a spot where there's enough coverage. You'll then also have WiFi in a place that isn't covered now. In the kitchen or your bedroom, for example. WiFi repeaters are an easy solution, but they do reduce your speed. Do you want fast internet everywhere? This isn't the best solution.
