According to our hiking navigation system expert
Where am I and how do I get back? The Garmin eTrex 10 can answer these questions. A GPS and GLONASS receiver very accurately determine your location. The device will help you get to your destination using waypoints, both during hikes and during bike rides. The hiking GPS does that without any maps. Use the USB port to easily load waypoints, routes, and geocaches onto the eTrex 10.

Bought this GPS to go Geo-Caching,
we have been using the Etrex10 for 2 weeks now and I can only conclude that it is a perfect entry-level model, takes you to your destination with a minimal deviation. 8 out of 10 times just spot-on.
loading Caches is very easy via the Garmin software (basecamp)
When you come home after caching, it is a matter of connecting to the PC with the supplied cable and the route that has been walked as well as the found caches are neatly displayed on the map.
The only drawback is that detailed maps cannot be set up so the map function is virtually unusable. (we don't miss it)
Final verdict a score of 8 out of 10

For geocaching I was looking for a GOS device with a strong receiver and not too much fuss. This device certainly succeeded. It is a complete device and I always get where I need to be. Furthermore, the Garmin is easy to operate and locations are entered in no time.
What I do miss now and then are the detailed maps, but I have to say that I don't think I have set the device quite right yet. The manual is somewhat concise and it takes a while to search the internet for a better manual.
What is also a nice fact is that you seem to be able to do endlessly with the battery. It has been used extensively for a while and the batteries are still working. The screen is also easy to read.
But as said: it is a simple device, but does the job well.

It is a simple but good GPS receiver. In use for 2 weeks now. After startup, a fix is quickly made with the satellites. Accuracy seems very good. Simple receiver but very suitable for our purpose (support walking on map and geocaching). Loading waypoints is easy. Routes can be read afterwards. In short, handy device. We bought it because this GPS receiver can also work on 2 normal penlites. Handy if you go camping without a power connection.
