Novation Impulse 49

There are cheaper MIDI controllers/keyboards on the market, but the difference is usually in the finish: controls (faders, pads, etc) that lack confidence, keyboard that feels very "plastic", etc. Novation Impulse none of that, the device makes a very solid impression. Novation includes software (Automap) that allows you to assign the controls within different software (Cubase, Ableton, etc) to the functions you prefer. This works well, I haven't had any problems with this yet. Of course you have to find out how this works, basic knowledge of a PC is required. To take full advantage of its capabilities, you need to realize that it's not just a "plug-and-play" device. However, I assume that someone using Cubase or Ableton (or...) has enough knowledge to also connect a MIDI keyboard. I have given 5 stars for "quality" but that of course depends on the software you use, because the Impulse is a controller and in other words does not even have sounds on board. However, the available MIDI in/out connections allow you to connect an external sound module, so you don't necessarily need a PC to make music. All in all a nice device that covers my needs completely.

Fits well, does what it's supposed to do and looks nice too.

First, we like that the screen is in the middle. The Novation Impulse 49 is great for those looking for a solid MIDI keyboard. It is a good keyboard for beginners and if you are serious about using your computer for music as a producer then this MIDI keyboard is a must. Are there better MIDI keyboards available? Of course. However, for the price it is very good and you will not easily find something better in this price range. If you use or would like to use Ableton, we recommend choosing a Novation keyboard. They're best for Ableton and pretty good for DAWs too.
