According to our digital/analog converter expert
The AudioQuest DragonFly Red is a digital/analog converter that improves the sound from various sources. Thanks to the output voltage of 2.1 Volts, the DAC is suitable for all headphones. Connect the DAC to your computer's USB port, or to your smartphone or tablet via an adapter cable. Thanks to the large output voltage, the DAC can handle headphones with a high impedance. You can listen to a natural and detailed reproduction of your favorite music, using the integrated 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC chip. You'll experience improved sound quality when listening to music from Spotify, MP3 files, and YouTube videos.

I've had the Dragonfly for a week now and I'm very happy with it. A very good DAC/AMP combo for on the go.
I've noticed that my sound is much clearer since using the Dragonfly, plus the device is very easy to carry around. What the Dragonfly offers in format, it takes in features. It is a very small device, and has a lot less features compared to other DAC/AMP combos in the price range. What you see is what you get.
I can highly recommend the Dragonfly for anyone looking for a good compact DAC/AMP combo for on the go.

Have owned this DAC for a year and have used it on:
Arcam A70 with B&W DM7's => home Auto installation with focal's K2 power => on the road Sennheiser HD555 => commute Shure SE535 in ears => commute
I can describe the experience as very positive, the sound is almost perfect for me, very truthful, with as reference another series of DACs that I compare with such as the Saber 9018 and the ES9023
Very tight and balanced sound, I notice a slightly less pronounced low compared to e.g. the Saber 9018, but this lends itself perfectly to an installation that sounds too bassy rap, as was the case with me at home and in the car. In my experience, on a separately amplified installation, this gives a very spacious image, with an incredibly beautiful separation of low-mid and high, in genre metal music for example a dream to listen to.
In combination with the headphones/in-ears that I use, I can conclude that the power is numerous, I always used this on android 8, both spotify and Flac files. (with USB audio player PRO => a must on android for this DAC to use its full potential)
You can so to speak (or maybe really, best not try it...) blow up your headphones when you open them all the way.
Lighting up the bitrate with the multi-color LED is more of a handy gimmick for me, but it certainly doesn't bother me.
Build quality is excellent, as long as it stays nicely in a USB port, unfortunately the protection plate comes loose every time I insert it into my PC, an exceptional case probably. Fortunately, there is the good Coolblue guarantee, which rarely can match.
Definitely recommended if you have the money to spare!

I use the Audioquest Dragonfly Red with Sennheiser Momentum M2 earphones and am amazed at the quality of the music from this DAC. The connection also went without problems, despite messages on the internet that the combination with a Chromebook is sometimes problematic.
It costs a bit, but you get quality for that.
