Well, what can you say about this device? After a week of use, I understand why reviews here are quite variable (some find it hardly faster than au bain marie or complain about the heating speed).
I think people have the wrong expectation of what bottle warmers can do. In fact, with this device, and I think with almost all bottle warmers, you still warm the contents of the bottle "au bain marie" (bottle submerged in warm water). So you should not expect turbo speeds in terms of heating the milk for your baby.
However, what this device does well (and why it is recommended in my opinion), is to heat the water quickly. And because of the various inserts or rings, you can ensure that the amount of water that is around the bottle, and therefore needs to be kept warm, is limited. Is the water warm once? Then the physical forces have to do their job so that the milk in the bottle becomes warm.
This bottle warmer keeps the water at a good temperature and in my opinion the water does not get warmer than the set position. That's great, because that way you can leave the bottle in it for a little longer without worry, if the baby does come later for his/her food (of course keep an eye on the shelf life of the expressed milk or formula! ). The milk does not get hotter if you leave the bottle longer. At the most, it eventually adopts the set water temperature.
There will probably be bottle warmers that are faster, but they probably do that by making the water much warmer, so that the contents of the bottle also heat up faster. And then they probably also make a guess when the heat will have entered the milk via the bottle. Do you want that? I wonder. Before you know it, the milk will be too hot for your baby.
Especially for the price, this Alecto is just a great device that does what it's supposed to do, provided you don't expect microwave-like heating times.
The only thing I regret is that the device is made of fairly cheap plastic and that the dial is so stiff that you have to hold the device with 2 hands and you wonder if the button is broken. We just plug in and out of the device. Then the rotary knob can remain in the correct position. Anyway, all good value for money.
