Stylish watch meets reliable fitness tracker.

Screen difficult to read in sunlight

To clarify, this review comes from someone who had a fitbit around their wrist for the past 2 years. First a charge 2 and since last year a versa. I was impressed by what such a small device can track: heart rate, steps, sleep, distance, etc. However, the fitbit had 2 major drawbacks: design (it's clearly a fitness tracker) and build quality. Both my fitbits broke down after about a year and I was allowed to exchange the product from Coolblue (thanks for that!).

I was looking for an alternative and came across withings steel HR sport. The steel HR can do everything the fitbit can in terms of tracking, but the 2 disadvantages are not to be found here. No one will dispute that this is a (beautiful) watch in the first place. More personally, most people are surprised when you say that this watch measures my heart rate in the meantime. The build quality is also top notch, all stainless steel and glass.

As mentioned, the tracking should not be inferior to the Fitbit in terms of possibilities. He counts steps well, but I do notice that I consistently take fewer steps than before. For example, when you push a shopping cart in the supermarket, these steps will not be counted. The fitbit did. On the other hand, the Fitbit sometimes counted steps when I was just working at my desk. The withings don't do this. All in all, the pedometer is certainly sufficiently accurate.

Heart rate tracking is smooth. There is a tracking every half hour after which the watch estimates the heart rate in between. When you start an activity, the tracking is constant as you would expect. The measured heart rate is also accurate.

Sleep tracking is fully automatic and uses your movement and heart rate. The app shows your sleep in the morning in different parts: light sleep, deep sleep and awake. I've had the watch on my wrist for 12 days now and the battery still has 56%. It's really a pleasure not to have to constantly pay attention to this.
