The quick installation guide states as a solution that in this case you have to use an HDMI 2.2 compatible TV, but with some searching we came up with a setting of the receiver so that it works completely in HDMI 1.4 ... and we immediately had an image on our ( slightly older) TV. hdmi 2.2 is necessary if you want to use 4K.
