I like to have my entire collection of music with me, don't stream (and certainly not for a subscription fee) and also want to have music that is not available elsewhere (for example, rehearsals of my own band) on my iPod. I downloaded the music I like a lot via Spotify so that I can listen offline and imported my iTunes music. The music also sounds just as good as on my iPhone and I can use the same earphones and charging cables, which makes a big difference. I do think the price is still relatively steep, since many options are actually a bit redundant for me personally, but I didn't like a refurbished older model either.
I can't say much about the battery life yet, it now seems comparable to my old one (but he was old too...) so it may be that it will be a bit disappointing. The advantage is that I can also connect it to a power bank with the same cable as my iPhone if necessary.
