I like to have my entire collection of music with me, don't stream (and certainly not for a subscription fee) and also want to have music that is not available elsewhere (for example, rehearsals of my own band) on my iPod. Without WiFi there are of course limitations, but that doesn't matter to me, those extra options are more nice and convenient for me (because hello iCloud and Apple account where everything syncs). I downloaded the music I like a lot via Spotify so that I can listen offline and imported my iTunes music. The music also sounds just as good as on my iPhone and I can use the same earphones and charging cables, which makes a big difference. I do think the price is still relatively steep, since many options are actually a bit redundant for me personally, but I didn't like a refurbished older model either.
I can't say much about the battery life yet, it now seems comparable to my old one (but he was old too...) so it may be that it will be a bit disappointing. The advantage is that I can also connect it to a power bank with the same cable as my iPhone if necessary.
