Below is my review per part that I personally find important when buying an espresso machine.
Installation:
This is really very simple. You can leave the manual in the box, because you don't need it. As soon as you have unpacked the machine and plugged it in, the machine guides you step by step through the installation process via the touchscreen. The machine is ready for use in no time.
Coffee flavour:
After setting the correct grinding degree, the machine makes a good espresso and other coffees. You can set the strength, number of milliliters and temperature. Once you have found the perfect settings, you can easily save them by creating a user profile. This is done quickly and definitely recommended to do.
Setting grinding degree:
The grinding degree is set via a rotary knob in the bean container that you have to press and turn. It works eventually, but it's not a sophisticated way of setting it up and the numbers on the button are hard to read. A rotary knob on the side of the machine with the grinding degree digital on the screen would work better. Given the other fancy gadgets of the machine and the touchscreen, the current way of setting feels old-fashioned. Not a deal breaker, but room for improvement.
Milk foam:
The milk froth the machine makes is very good. You can set how many ml of milk you want in your milk variant and whether you want no, normal or a lot of foam. You can also set whether you want to brew the coffee first and then the milk (foam) or the milk (foam) first and then the coffee. If you mainly drink milk varieties such as lattes and cappuccinos, this machine will make you very happy.
To clean:
This is again simple. The water filter that is in it lasts a long time and that is why you only have to descale the machine after a long time (1-1.5 years). After each time you have used milk froth, the machine automatically cleans the milk hose by means of a burst of steam back through the hose. You can empty the collection reservoir for water and coffee grounds in no time.
General:
After switching on, the machine is quickly up to temperature and ready for use. It happens when you make a coffee, the water reservoir is empty in the meantime. The machine interrupts the brewing process until you have filled the water reservoir again. If you are a connoisseur you will taste the difference with a normal brewed coffee that has not been interrupted. This could have been a bit smarter by indicating in advance that there is not enough water in the reservoir.
Besides the 'dumb' water tank and the 'old-fashioned' grinding degree adjustment, I am impressed by the performance of this espresso machine. It is easy to use, the touchscreen works great, the milk froth is very good and it makes tasty espresso/coffee. In short, highly recommended.
