According to our smartwatch expert
With the Polar Vantage V2 Shift Silver/Black, you can improve your sports performance. On this Shift version, you can easily swap the watch strap for another universal 22mm watch strap. With the wrist sensor in the watch, you can continuously keep an eye on your heart rate. Based on your heart rate, the watch sets a personal activity goal for you and helps you accomplish it. On the multisport watch, you can review all your training data. Choose from different sports profiles and adjust your screen and settings for every sport. With Training Load Pro and Recovery Pro from Polar, you optimize your workouts and prevent injuries. The sports watch tracks how your body recovers from your workouts and stress at night.
Note: an adapter isn't included. Do you want to charge the watch via a socket? Use the adapter of your phone charger or order a separate adapter.
This watch is recommended for a wrist circumference of 18 to 22cm.

In a nutshell: a nice sports watch, but with a mediocre screen.
What is immediately noticeable is that the screen has a moderate brightness. In normal light it is sufficiently legible, but it does not last. The automatic lighting that comes on when you turn your wrist does not always work as quickly. Sometimes you have to turn your wrist annoyingly often for the lights to come on. Fortunately, the lighting can be set to 'constantly' during a workout. The screen is then sufficiently readable outside or in darkness. However, a brighter screen would be desirable.
Then the design, which is relatively slim and without large protrusions. As a result, the watch does not quickly catch on things (clothing). Sleeping with the watch (which you want to do because it also measures your sleep) becomes less uncomfortable due to the design. Operation with gloves on is fine.
The heart rate monitor is accurate. In the hospital I tested it next to a medical device and that was spot-on. However, that was at rest. While running, the registered heart rate sometimes changes. Sometimes there are some strange outliers, especially downwards. In general, however, the heart rate is well recorded.
The GPS is a bit less accurate. Or actually the current GPS speed. At the end of a workout (or lap) you do get accurate data of your distance traveled, km/h or min/km. But while running, at a constant pace, the displayed speed/time can fluctuate quite a bit. My speed recently fluctuated between 5m30 and 7min per kilometer. So I really had nothing to do with that.
The watch offers numerous sports and health functions. Whether they are useful depends on what kind of athlete you are. Note: you do need the chest strap for the orthostatic test. The watch also records your sleep. Polar combines that with your heart rate data and then says something about how well you slept and what that means for your recovery. I found this interesting, but consider it indicative. My feeling (how rested I woke up) sometimes deviated from what the watch was thinking. Furthermore - but I have not been able to test this definitively - polar assumes that you are active during the day and sleep at night. If you work night shifts and this rhythm is sometimes the other way around, I don't think the watch understands it anymore.
The watch also says something about how productive you train. You can undertrain, conservatively train, productively and overtrain. Handy in itself, were it not for the fact that the watch does not look back 7 days, but a week. And it starts again on Monday (or however you set it yourself). And so I was still pretty productive on Sunday, only to read on Monday that I was severely undertraining.
The user-friendliness also leaves something to be desired. Example: You cannot run the stopwatch in the background. The timer does, but the stopwatch doesn't. If you leave that menu, the stopwatch will stop. You can also add sports profiles via the app, but how to remove them, that was a search.
You can also change a lot within a sport profile, for example heart rate zones or which information is displayed on your watch and where on your screen. You can personalize quite a bit there.
The watch offers limited smartwatch functions. Controlling music and reading WhatsApp messages in combination with an iPhone works well. However, it is by no means a smartwatch with fancy dials. You can change the display of date and time slightly, but to a limited extent.
In Polar-flow (app, but also online) all data is stored and displayed. This is very comprehensive and can be very useful.
All in all an extensive sports watch, but in too many areas just not what I'm looking for.

I've had this watch for a week now. Likes it very much! Was looking for a sports watch for a long time that for now (starting runner) until the moment that I am going to ask the utmost of myself and therefore this watch. I think I succeeded in that quest.
Everything I wish is simply shown. Operation is intuitive and versatile. An endless amount of data can be analyzed in the very clear Polar app. Spotify works fine and notifications from the phone come through well.
Watch is of course a sports watch, however, it can also be worn as a 'normal' watch. Get a lot of compliments on the watch. The different colors of the strap are also nice to combine.
