You can switch this on to extend the cooking zones. That way, you can create space for a long pan or roasting pan. If the pasta water boils over while it's unguarded, the cooking zone automatically switches off. This prevents ugly, caked-on food rests on the surface. After dinner, you know exactly when the cooktop has cooled down enough. The residual heat indicator ensures you don't accidentally burn yourself while you're cleaning. You can control the cooktop via the dials at the front of the accompanying built-in oven.
