Expert review of the Samsung QD OLED S95C
The Samsung QD-OLED S95C is one of the best Samsung TVs of 2023. The S95C has an OLED display with Quantum Dots. This way, the TV should show a stronger contrast and a higher brightness than a traditional OLED TV. I visited Samsung and tested the TV. You can read all about my findings in this review.
First impression of the Samsung QD-OLED S95C
I see the S95C for the first time and what I notice right away is the thin screen. Thanks to the Infinity Design, there's almost no bezel on the side of the screen. This means you'll mostly see the image on screen. The TV includes the One Connect Box. With this, you can connect all peripherals to the TV via 1 transparent cable. You won't be bothered by a mess of cables behind your TV this way.
Vibrant colors and high brightness
The high brightness and color gamut of the S95C stand out right away. That's because of the combination of Quantum Dots and an OLED display. The color green really splashes off the screen. I notice that the images on this TV are truly bright compared to the other TVs in the showroom. I can recognize different shades of green in the moving mass of cells on the screen.
Very strong contrast
The power of an OLED display is showing deep black levels. That's because the pixels on the screen turn themselves off individually. The S95C displays very deep black levels and combined with the high brightness, this produces a very powerful contrast. The dark cells on the screen are truly black as opposed to the bright red cells.
Wide viewing angle
OLED TVs are known for their strong contrast and the wide viewing angle. If I see the image of the S95C from an angle, all color tones stay clearly visible. That's because the light source is close to the screen. Thanks to the anti-glare coating on the screen, I'm also not bothered by light reflections in the dark parts of the screen. The screen of the S95C is clearly visible from any spot in the room.
Good sound
The S95C uses the Object Tracking Sound+ audio technology. Thanks to this technology, the sound follows the on-screen movements. For example, the sound follows cars racing by from left to right during Formula 1 races. For this technology, there are extra speakers on the sides and top of the television. Thanks to the Dolby Atmos technology, the sound is reflected to my position via the ceiling. I can also hear the sound from above me that way, like an airplane flying overhead. For a powerful listening experience, you should purchase an external soundbar.
A lot of user-friendliness
Just like most Samsung televisions, the S95C includes the Solar One Remote. This useful and compact remote has a few buttons, which makes it very clear. The remote charges itself with artificial light or daylight, which makes batteries unnecessary. With a press of a button, I'm in the screen-filling Samsung smart menu. Here, I can easily navigate through my favorite apps like Netflix and YouTube. I can also use the 4 smart buttons on the remote to get to apps like Disney+ and Amazon Prime with just 1 touch.
