How do you replace the carbon filter in your range hood?

Every recirculation range hood uses carbon filters. The range hood cleans the air in your kitchen and then blows it back into the room. To ensure that your range hood works properly, it's important to replace the filters regularly. Exactly when and how you have to do this depends on the type of filter and the use of your range hood.

How long a carbon filter lasts depends on the type of filter and the use of your range hood. most carbon filters have to be replaced every 3 to 12 months. You know that the filter needs replacing if your kitchen still smells when you're done cooking. Some range hoods have an electronic cleaning indicator. This'll light up when your filters have to be replaced.

We recommend that you check the manual to see exactly how to do this. This differs per type and model. Make sure the plug is not in the socket. A carbon filter is always on the suction side of the motor. In most cases, you have to remove the grease filters and possibly the rack to get to the motor. Remove the old carbon filters and install the new ones. Some filters click in place, while others require a screwdriver.
