The JBL Tour One M3 Smart TX has everything I'm looking for in headphones: clear sound, solid bass, and good noise cancellation. I can customize the sound with the equalizer, but I only create a custom sound profile in the app. I also receive a Smart TX remote control with which I adjust the equalizer, but I can't create a custom sound profile with it.
Sound Quality
The sound from the headphones is clear and distinct. With the standard sound profile, the bass is a bit flat, but I can hear all the vocals and instruments clearly. This profile is perfect for listening to quieter songs. For music with more bass, I adjust the sound profile using the equalizer. This can be done with the JBL Headphones app or with the included Smart TX. I choose from several standard profiles, of which I usually select Bass. I also create a custom sound profile in the app. For example, I increase the bass or tone down the treble a bit. This way, I can completely customize the sound to my liking.
Spatial Audio
When I watch a movie or TV show, I always turn on spatial audio. This allows me to hear the sound all around me. When a character is on the left of the screen, the sound also comes from the left earcup. I notice that this immerses me even more in the movie. I don't like this feature as much with music.
Good noise canceling
The noise canceling on the Tour One M3 works well. When I'm working in the office, I turn on the noise canceling and I no longer hear anyone talking. I can't even hear the tapping of my own keyboard. This allows me to concentrate better on my work. When I wear the headphones in traffic, I prefer to set them to Ambient Noise mode. This actually makes ambient sounds louder than usual. This allows me to hear the traffic around me even better.
Smart TX
Unique to the Tour One M3 is the included Smart TX: a kind of remote control with a screen. With this small module, I control the headphones without the JBL app. I can adjust the noise canceling mode, choose a sound profile in the equalizer, and enable spatial audio, among other things. The Smart TX also has other handy features: I can set a timer, for example. It also works as a transmitter for devices that don't have Bluetooth. This way, I can still connect the headphones to my desktop, for example. I mainly use the module when I'm watching a movie on my phone. I use the remote control to adjust the sound settings while the movie plays.
