The Yamaha soundbar has many possibilities and was exactly what I was looking for. The speaker gives a nice sound when it is connected to your iPhone via bluetooth. Connecting is very easy, operation is via your phone and you can connect multiple devices. In addition, the soundbar switches on immediately when the TV is switched on and makes watching TV a lot more pleasant because the sound of the TV is played nicely. Finally, I also linked the Apple TV to it and I have a nice cinema experience at home with the (active) subwoofer of my old surround set. Great device!

Bought a soundbar because I missed some bass and dynamics with my standard TV speakers when watching movies. When I got home, the YAS-108 was immediately unpacked and tested.

If your TV supports 'HDMI-ARC', you can use the soundbar for all your devices connected to the TV with just 1 HDMI (high-speed) cable. An optical cable was included with me in the box, but I chose HDMI anyway, because optical cannot handle all HD surround signals (such as Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD). I had to set speakers to 'amplifier' instead of 'speakers' in my TV settings before sound came out (this was not mentioned in the manual, but possibly TV-specific). By enabling 'CEC' you can also control the soundbar volume with the remote control of your TV.

In terms of sound quality, a very clear improvement over before. If you turn off the soundbar and switch back to the TV speakers, you can clearly hear the difference and only notice what you're missing. Especially the 3D surround effect gives a nice full sound that fills the entire room.

'Bass extension' provides extra depth in the low tones. There is also an output channel for external subwoofer, but unnecessary for me (and the neighbors) ;)

Streaming via Bluetooth from a smartphone / laptop is also effortless and very handy.

Finally, with the smartphone app "Yamaha Home Theater Controller" you can also control the soundbar from your smartphone. For example, you can still experiment with different surround effects.
