The Deebot OZMO 950 has been in use for almost a week. The idea of having vacuuming and mopping in one appliance is nice, unfortunately it shows many points where improvement is possible, or even necessary.
When first used, the device starts to drive around in order to explore the environment. It sometimes seems to make strange choices, which can serve as a nice alternative for an evening of TV.
Before doing this, however, it is recommended that you enable "Advanced Mode". This allows to define different zones. This can concern different rooms, but also an area for a carpet, where it is not necessary to mop, but to vacuum. Or an area where the device is not allowed. I did not do this myself when I first started using it, because it is not mentioned anywhere in the all too concise manual.
Result: after the first cleaning, this function was enabled, but then another reconnaissance round was needed before I could set the advanced functions.
The device is certainly diligent. Unfortunately, it occasionally gets into nests. For example, on the footrest of our relax chair. The five-legged support is about an inch high at the ends, and gets higher towards the middle. The device rides on this again and again, and therefore also gets stuck. Even after setting a prohibited zone, it still gets stuck there. So this function doesn't seem to work properly.
The cleaning result is mediocre. Some dirt is collected in the tray, and you can also see from the mop cloth that something has indeed happened, but a stubborn stain just remains. The amount of water to be used was increased in the settings. The device was also programmed to drive through the kitchen every day. Gradually we see a small improvement, but it will never replace a thorough cleaning.
After all, by increasing the amount of water to be used, it is no longer possible to have the entire room cleaned in one go. The battery will last, but the water reservoir is empty before the round is finished. However, there is no detection on this, so that the device continues to drive around, even if there is no more water to clean.
One last drawback: When driving up the carpet, the device loses the water reservoir, so that it remains in the middle of the room. I really don't think this is the intent, even though the carpet is set as a no-mop zone.
In summary: this is certainly not a high flyer. We will do with it for the time being, but when the device needs to be replaced I will take a closer look at other brands and models.
