It now turned out that the tweeter of one speaker was simply not connected. I was able to determine this through the bass reflex port at the back. So I had the option of sending them back for repairs, which would probably take a while. Or take the risk of opening them yourself. Because this was quite easy, I "repaired" it myself. And I have to say, they are really good now. Sound is very, very good for their size.
