How do you get 4K images?

Most televisions nowadays are 4K televisions. This allows you to watch sharp and detailed images, and you won't see any pixels in the image. If you want to enjoy this resolution to the fullest, you'll also need 4K images. In this article, you can read where you can watch content with 4K resolution.

Steam Netflix in 4K

Netflix

One of the most commonly used streaming services is Netflix. This service has a large selection of movies and series in 4K. This is always indicated in the app with the 'UHD' label. This stands for Ultra HD, and means that the specific movie or series supports 4K. If you want to watch content in 4K via Netflix, you do need the right subscription. Only the 'Premium' subscription of € 15.99 supports 4K. The 'Basic' subscription of € 7.99 and the 'Standard' subscription of € 11.99 don't offer movies and series in 4K resolution.

Streaming apps 4K content

Other streaming apps

Many streaming apps offer 4K movies and series without extra subscription costs. For example, you can watch most content in 4K resolution with Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Disney+. YouTube also has a large selection of 4K videos. You won't really find movies or series on here, but mostly vlogs, trailers, and other short videos are available in 4K.

TV providers with 4K channels

TV provider

Some TV providers of cable TV or satellite TV offer options to receive channels in 4K. The selection isn't very large yet. This means the package often consists of just a couple of channels that broadcast programs in this resolution. Providers with a 4K box in the Netherlands are Ziggo, KPN, and Canal Digitaal. In Belgium, the providers Telenet and Proximus also offer a 4K decoder.

Blu-ray movies

Ultra HD Blu-ray

Many new movies get a physical release on Ultra HD Blu-ray, but old movies are sometimes released in 4K on Blu-ray again too. You recognize these discs by the UHD logo on the cover. Keep in mind that you need an UHD Blu-ray player to play these discs. With a standard Blu-ray player, you can't get the most out of the image quality of your 4K TV and Blu-ray disc.
