Expert review of the Canon PowerShot V10

As soon as I open the packaging, I notice the size of the camera. The camera is so small that it fits in my hand when folded. Thanks to the compact design, you can store your images on a microSD card. That's useful to know, because most cameras use a regular SD card. The box contains 2 windshields for the microphones of the camera. In my opinion, a windshield is indispensable with a vlog camera. That's because I often film outside. This way, I can record clear sound everywhere.

I think the small size of the PowerShot V10 is a big plus, because I can easily take it with me when traveling. It has a built-in footrest, so I can also use it for product reviews, for example. I can easily place it on the table with the footrest and record myself. The touchscreen tilts upwards 180 degrees. This allows me to see myself during a recording. Still, I prefer a screen that folds out to the side. When I look at the screen of the PowerShot V10, I have to look up. This looks unnatural.

The compact casing of the PowerShot V10 has a relatively large and light-sensitive 1-inch image sensor. This sensor provides clear images with lots of detail and little noise. I can record in 4K resolution, which produces razor-sharp videos. For vertical images on Instagram and TikTok, I can rotate the camera 90 degrees. I don't have to crop these images to vertical format afterwards. I also like that I can capture a lot in the frame with the wide-angle lens of the camera. I can record both myself and my surroundings without any problems. For example, me on holiday in a beautiful nature reserve.

The camera has a few useful functions that make the life of a vlogger easier. My face remains sharply in focus thanks to the autofocus face tracking. That's nice when I record myself in a busy environment. As soon as I turn on the image stabilization, my images look more stable. This allows me to create vibration-free images while I walk through the city. When image stabilization is on, the camera only crops the image slightly. The image angle remains relatively large. I cab send my images to my phone or start a livestream via the Canon Connect app.

The sound quality of the camera is excellent. The sound is sharp and clear. I can attach the 2 included windshields with magnets. I can record clear sound when I record outside as well. I think it's a shame that the windshields cover most of the screen. This makes me less likely to use them. If you choose the Advanced Vlogging Kit, you'll also receive a separate casing. This protects your camera from falls and bumps. The casing has 3 connections for a microphone or light, for example. That way, I can easily improve the quality of my videos.
