How do you degrease your Melitta Avanza?
You need to degrease your Melitta Avanza once every 2 months. This prevents blockages and malfunctions to your coffee machine. You can clean the coffee oil residue from the pipes of your coffee machine with a degreasing tablet. In this article, we'll explain how to do this.

Make sure the brew group is cleaned before you start.
How often should you degrease?
Clean your Melitta Avanza every 2 months or when the coffee machine indicates it's time to do so. Use the Melitta cleaning tablets for this. With these tablets, you rinse all the pipes clean, so that coffee residues and fats disappear. This way, you can keep your Melitta coffee machine in good condition.

Step 1: prepare the cleaning
- Press and hold the 'service' button for at least 3 seconds.
- Press the 'service' button repeatedly until the cleaning program appears.
- Press and hold the 'service' button again for at least 3 seconds.
- Remove and empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
- Place the drip tray back in the coffee machine without the coffee grounds container.
- Place the coffee grounds container under the coffee outlet.
- The machine rinses 2 times.
- The clean message on the display will now flash quickly.
Step 2: run the cleaning program
- Remove the panel on the side of the coffee machine.
- Press and hold down the red button on the brew group handle. Turn the handle clockwise.
- Remove the brew group from the machine.
- Rinse the brew group under running water and let it drain.
- Place the Melitta Perfect Clean cleaning tablet in the brew group.
- Place the brew group back in the machine.
- Press and hold the red knob on the brew group handle and turn it counterclockwise.
- Click the panel back into the coffee machine.
Step 3: rinse the machine
- The drip tray notification lights up on the display.
- Remove and empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
- Place the drip tray without the coffee grounds container back in the coffee machine.
- Place the coffee grounds container under the coffee outlet. The machine starts rinsing.
- The message of the drip tray lights up again on the display.
- Remove and empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
- Place the drip tray and coffee grounds container back into the machine.
- The coffee machine has now finished cleaning.
