How to you check which wall type you have for our TV installation and mounting service?

If you buy a new TV and have it mounted, it's nice if it stays put. Always choose a sturdy wall, such as a load-bearing wall. This is the safest place for your new television and wall mount. You can read all about it here.

It's not always clear which walls are load-bearing. Always check this before our installers arrive so we can get started right away. With these tips, you can find out which walls are suitable for your new TV:

Step 1: view the building plans

Step 2: check your walls

Load-bearing walls are an important part of your home because they distribute the weight of the entire house evenly. As a result, they not only need to be sturdy, but you also can't simply remove them. This makes them an ideal spot for your TV and wall mount.

Check your home's plans if you still have them. These distinguish between the different walls in your house. This way, you know where your load-bearing walls are located and where it's best to hang your TV.

You can also check your walls yourself. A load-bearing wall is at least 10 centimeters thick and produces a dull sound when you tap on it. Does the sound hollow? It's usually a different type of wall and not a good choice for a TV installation. Load-bearing walls usually run throughout your entire house, from the foundation to the roof. So check the crawl space to see which walls rest on foundation beams and determine which walls can be found on different floors.
