Sometimes the water from a new kettle smells and tastes a bit like plastic. This often happens when you use a kettle for the first time, but it's not harmful to your health. You can easily remove the plastic odor and flavor from your kettle. Follow the 3 steps below.

Step 1. Boil the water 3 times.
Step 2. Add vinegar or lemon juice.
Step 3. Boil the water once more.

Step 1: boil the water 3 times

Fill the kettle with water up to the 'Max' level. Boil the water 3 times. Empty the kettle after each time. Is the plastic odor still present? Continue to step 2.

Step 2: add vinegar or lemon juice

Fill half of the kettle with water and add vinegar or lemon juice until the Max level. Switch on the kettle and bring the mixture to boil.

Step 3: boil the water again

Empty the kettle and fill it with water up to the 'Max' level one more time. Turn the kettle on and let the water boil. The plastic odor and flavor should now be gone completely. You can make a nice cup of tea again.
