What's the Samsung Health Monitor app and what can you use it for?

The Health Monitor app is for anyone with a Samsung smartwatch. The app is available for people with a new Samsung Galaxy Watch starting at the Watch 3 or Active 2. You can use the app to measure your blood pressure or perform ECG heart rate measurements. The data from these readings gets stored in the app, so you can easily check it. You can download the Samsung Health Monitor app on your smartwatch and your smartphone. The health measurements you perform via the app are never as accurate as in the hospital. If your blood pressure is too high, you might suffer from brain, kidney, or heart disease. From the Samsung Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Watch Active2 onwards, Samsung smartwatches measure your blood pressure from your wrist. Before you get started, you first have to calibrate your Watch with an analog blood pressure monitor. You can do this at the doctor, for example. After, these watches can perform a pulse wave analysis via the heart rate monitor. The app will show you the difference between your calibration value and your current blood pressure. You'll know if your blood pressure is lower or higher than your previous reading.

An electric or ECG heart rate monitor measures the electric activity in your blood. The strength and timing of the electric signals show your heart rhythm in the shape of a cardiogram. With an ECG reading, you can discover heart arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation. You perform an ECG reading when you place your fingertip on the top button of your smartphone.
