According to our audio streamer expert
Use the CONNECT to stream music wirelessly to your existing HiFi setup.
Add your speakers to the SONOS multi-room system and control all of them with 1 app.
Listen to music from over 60 streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, and Soundcloud.
The CONNECT doesn't support AirPlay or Bluetooth.
Spotify Premium is required to listen to music from Spotify via the speaker.
With the SONOS CONNECT, you can add any HiFi system to the SONOS multi-room system. This lets you send music wirelessly to the speakers via WiFi. Listen to music from your mobile device or access internet radio and streaming services. Because you're adding the speakers to the SONOS multi-room system, you can control them with the SONOS app. Distribute various speakers all over your house and play the same music in every room. If you walk from your living room to the bedroom, you won't miss a second of your favorite song. You connect the CONNECT to your device with an RCA or optical cable.
I have been using the sonos connect for quite some time now without other sonos products, connected to an amplifier that provides music to all rooms. Furthermore, the device is connected via a fixed LAN network, the device works perfectly with an infinite number of possibilities of radio streams, application works perfectly wireless on apple i-phone, windows operating system and all android systems. Synology disk station also runs perfectly on it. Sound does have a delay of a few milleseconds. This is no problem at all until you want to use the audio input to connect another audio source. If you then play both separately amplified, you will hear the delay. But otherwise nothing but praise, highly recommended. I am considering buying several more to make a distinction between the various living spaces. And be able to play different sources. Maybe not the cheapest solution for a multi room audio system but it works great.

The Sonos Connect is perfect for people who already own a good amplifier and speakers and who don't want to part with them. With this system it is possible to use your existing equipment and also to make use of the possibilities that digital music offers. The operation by means of the App that runs on both your iPhone and an iPad is very user-friendly. You don't need the Sonos controller at all! There is now a Sonos Play 5 in my bedroom. Very satisfied with the product. Only downside is the steep price.

I wanted a wireless music system at home. Stream music, but also keep my old installation. I have purchased a Sonos connect, to keep my own sound system, and a Sonos play 3 for extra sound/possibilities. What has already been written in reviews is all correct. Easy to install, user-friendly, small, handy, well thought out and not cheap. The sound is nice, but can't match my existing setup. This is not that important to me because it is a small addition. More important to me is the fact that the Sonos connect cannot be turned off. There is no on/off switch. The small box gets quite warm at the top. This is only possible if (sufficient) power is used. I don't know why it gets so hot. However, I do think it is a clear flaw. I cut the power cord in a strategic place and put a switch in between. If I turn on the connect now, it takes 20 seconds before it is really connected again.
