After many reviews about "intelligent" thermostats I came to my conclusion... those things just guess what. Nice gadget that tries to guess when you are or isn't home but get it wrong as often as it is right so that they keep heating your house while you are away for a long time.

The Netatmo works differently in that respect. It is a "classic" thermostat that you program like any other programmable thermostat, but in an easy way via your browser or an app and which you can consult and control remotely thanks to the internet connection. And like my previous thermostat, this appliance learns the characteristics of your home and takes this into account when heating and thus saving. You can also connect the device to Netatmo's weather station to have an even better forecast, but just as well simply have the weather retrieved via the internet connection (a plus compared to non-internet connected devices).

The installation is simple and clearly explained. I had it working within half an hour. The device is easy to operate: press at the top to increase the temperature, at the bottom to decrease. And then there are 2 "hidden" buttons to place the device in absent or frost-free position.

Since the device communicates with the base station via radio, an e-paper display has been chosen.
