According to our controller expert
This controller gives you that authentic feeling of an arcade game.
This controller is also suitable for the PlayStation 5.
This controller isn't suitable for many games other than fighting games.
Of course you can play a two-dimensional fighting game with a controller. There's nothing wrong with that. The experts, however, know better: you play a fighting game with a fight stick, such as the Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai. Why? Because you'd prefer to have the three punch buttons side by side, just like the three kick buttons, and because executing a move on a fight stick is just a bit easier to perform than on a game pad. In short: because you want to get as close as possible to that arcade sensation at home. With the Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai, you should certainly pull that off. It is licensed by Sony for the PlayStation 4 and 5. In addition, this fight stick has a Hayabusa joystick, Kuro buttons, and a side panel with more than enough configuration options.

All fighting games are easy to play. Especially beat em ups. Also works well with emulators such as arcade games.

This Arcade Fightstick (AFS) plays very nicely. The poker is very pleasant to use. The buttons are of good quality and the device can take a beating. The 3 meter long wire can be neatly hidden in the device and the packaging has a handle, so you can easily take this AFS with friends.
The Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai (RAP) has an analog input from the poker and 9 buttons on the top. The poker is very precise and accurate to use. The ninth button is the option button and it's in a bit of an odd place. After a tip from a friend, I discovered how nice you can place your hand in front of the 8 action buttons. You can place your hand in such a way that your 3 long fingers are directly above the 6 left buttons, so that you can easily switch between, for example, 'light kick' and 'heavy punch'. The RAP runs obliquely, as you also see with keyboards.
Due to the size of the device, this AFS lies very comfortably on your lap and you quickly forget that it is on your lap. In the end it's about not being limited by the device you use and the RAP succeeds very well in that. Despite the size of the device, it is not heavy. In addition, the bottom of the RAP has special material for where your legs should come when you have it on your lap, this prevents the RAP from slipping.
The RAP has no artwork. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage, depending on your preference. It does ensure that this black/grey AFS, with white tones, looks quite neutral. It looks very solid.
The action buttons are close to the stick and are also close to each other. I found this at first getting used to, but because of the aforementioned hand placement, these buttons, which give good feedback, are very pleasant to press.
You don't automatically become a better player by using an AFS, but this RAP does make it easier to become a better player.

I've had the HRAP 4 for a few days now and I'm very impressed with it. It is very robustly built. (I was questioned by another review here. I've also had the Mad Catz TE and the difference in quality is really small.) The stick and buttons are also of good quality. Many people find this Hayabusa stick even better than Sanwa. I can't judge that myself yet, but the stick works at least as well so far. It is true that you cannot easily exchange the art design for your own design. But it's also not difficult to stick some nice artwork on it and give it your own twist by using different colors of buttons/sticks.
I also like the extra features like ps3 compatibility and a switch that lets you make the stick work as a dpad/left stick/right stick, so you can also play platformers like Limbo with the hrap 4 if you'd like.
