According to our power plug expert
With these smart plugs, you can also measure the energy consumption of a connected device.
The plugs are suitable for Apple HomeKit, so you can also switch on or off via Siri devices with a voice command.
Thanks to the compact size of the plugs, they don't block other sockets.
Without Apple TV, you can only operate the plug via Bluetooth within a radius of 10 meters.
This smart plug doesn't have a smartphone app for Android devices.
The EVE Energy allows you to turn any random electric device in your home into a smart device. Use the app on your smartphone to switch devices on or off and to measure energy consumption. With this plug, you can take immediate action when your child has been watching TV for too long, or when you forgot to turn off the dryer. You can control the sensor with an iPhone or iPad (with iOS 8.3 or later). If you want to control the sensor when you're away from home, you'll need an Apple TV as a hub.

General
It works well with Siri and Homekit on iOS (9). And if you also have an Apple TV, you can control it remotely. And so from outside your WiFi network.
This allows you to switch on the coffee machine on the way home. For example, you speak to Siri; "Hey Siri, can you make me coffee?"
This can all be done from within the app. You must first set a room, room, name for the Eve and a name for Siri. This only needs to be done once.
Installation is done quickly and easily. And you also have insight into the consumption of the device that is connected to it.

Whether it's Apple's HomeKit or Elgato I don't know, but my experience with the eve energy is purely bad. In the beginning it works, so in my enthusiasm I bought 8 (plus two eve weather). 4 of them just broke. After iOS updates or elgato's firmware, the entire HomeKit system was messed up and everything had to be reset from scratch, including logging in the names, rooms and 'scenes' or the preset combinations of on or off. That happened to me three times. Took me 3 hours each time. It works on some devices, others not. Also something like that. When it works it works slowly and there is a lot of time between the switching moments, and sometimes individual eve energy plugs just don't work at all and then they do (I have an apple TV as a hub so the Bluetooth range in the house is sufficient). Often the message 'out of range' comes up, in short: all frustration. I have removed all the elgato eve's and just work with the switches on the lamps themselves again. Not so hi-tech but at least it works. Worthless stuff that happens all over HomeKit / elgato eve!!!

The installation was fast and the only drawback is the range. You must have multiple Apple TVs to control them from other rooms
