According to our HiFi speaker expert
The 2-way design offers a balanced reproduction of bass and treble.
Thanks to the wide frequency range, you'll hear every detail of a song.
The bass reflex port doesn't work properly if the speakers are placed against the wall.
With the KEF LS50, your favorite music is displayed down to the smallest detail. These passive speakers have a 2-way design, consisting of a tweeter in the center of the woofer. Through the cooperation between these drivers you listen to pure high and deep mid and low tones. Because the speaker produces a wide frequency range, your music sounds natural and detailed. Put on your favorite songs and discover details that you never noticed before. The compact design makes the speakers suitable for small rooms, while the power is powerful enough to fill medium-sized rooms with sound.

I have had this set of speakers for over two and a half years now and I am still very satisfied with them.
It is ideal for those who want to listen to high-quality music in a small to medium-sized room. These speakers are very honest speakers: beautiful recordings sound sublime, less well-recorded music falls mercilessly through the basket. Although these speakers are very versatile in my opinion, I would especially recommend them to music lovers of the following genres: classical, jazz, blues, folk, ... There is more attention to the quality of the recording.
Where this speaker really excels is the reproduction of voices and brass instruments. I have not heard this in the class below €2500. The highs are very clean and extremely detailed without sounding sharp. The mids also sound very nice and balanced (not too warm or too cold). The bass tones are reproduced tight and with the necessary impact for such a compact speaker. Another plus of the LS50 is that the sound has a very wide sound field: in other words, you don't have to sit right in front of the speakers to hear the sound optimally.
The only drawback I can think of with this speaker is that you do have to surround it with good quality equipment. The amplifier must be sufficiently powerful (price range around €1000 seems ideal to me) and the source is also quite up to standard. Anyone who invests in this will be richly rewarded with these KEFs. It is also advisable to buy a few sufficiently sturdy stands (preferably filled with sand or something similar). The sound gains enormously in body standing there on a stable stand. Bookshelves are out of the question with these speakers.
In short, the KEF LS50 has an excellent price-quality ratio for me. Invest in the rest of your installation and you are guaranteed to enjoy many years of listening pleasure!

Already some experience with the speakers from kef. This mainly with the Q and R series). In terms of sound experience, it is very similar to the R series (spatial experience). A good amplifier is recommended. You read a lot that the low tones leave something to be desired, I myself do not experience this as a nuisance. But if deep tones are an important factor for you, this can be absorbed by means of a subwoofer. (But as described, this is not a must to enjoy these speakers properly!
