After more than 40 years of loyal service, my old turntables were allowed to retire and the prospection could start for 2 new turntables. After a long search I came across these Pioneers.
Read a lot of reviews and tests and after a while the only doubt was the color but eventually opted for the white version.
Immediately pleasantly surprised when unpacking, because the devices are firmly packed in a double cardboard box and the corresponding filling material.
Everything is neatly secured in the box but you have to be careful not to lose some small parts in the packaging material.
Putting the turntable together is a piece of cake, the installation is child's play, leveling is of course done on the turntable itself (and not on the dust cover).
The turntable feels sturdy (and it is) and after the necessary adjustments you can get started.
So far (after 4 weeks of use) I can mention some minor negative points:
At 45rpm the pitch should be slightly off zero. (Apparently a problem that has been around for a while... Too bad Pioneer hasn't addressed this yet
There is no intermediate position for the dust cover… either it is open or closed. I find this rather annoying because in position "open" the hood takes up quite a bit of volume!
There is only 1 adjustable leg to level the turntable ... this is not enough because you can only adjust in one direction ... what if you have to adjust in the other direction? (solved it with pieces of paper)
A tip for all turntable enthusiasts: if you buy turntables from this price range (or higher), invest in a digital needle pressure gauge (±25€) and a turntable spirit level (±20€). With these tools you can adjust your turntable perfectly and you can check it on a regular basis.
