According to our thermostat expert
The Honeywell T6R is suitable for all boiler types.
You can control the thermostat remotely with the Honeywell app on your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
The large lit screen indicates the time and temperature.
The thermostat doesn't have zone control.
The installation is difficult because you have to reconnect the existing wiring, for example.
You can place the Honeywell Lyric T6R smart thermostat anywhere in the living room. This smart thermostat is suitable for single-stage and modular boilers. It also supports the OpenTherm protocol. You can download the free Honeywell app on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. You can then set the heating schedule you want per day via the app or the touchscreen. The thermostat is self-learning. After a week, it knows exactly when you're home and when you're not. In addition to a useful app, this thermostat also has geofencing. This way, it's always connected to your smartphone, and it'll turn on the heat source automatically if you come within a certain range of your house. To make it all complete, the thermostat is also suitable for IFTTT and Apple HomeKit.
User friendliness
Settings
Ease of assembly
This smart thermostat was purchased primarily to operate it remotely via the iPhone, due to irregular schedules. That works reasonably well, although there are some teething problems in the iOS app. The biggest problem is that all traffic between the app and the thermostat goes through Honeywell's servers. If somewhere in that chain 1 thing goes wrong, you have no connection and you can no longer operate the thermostat via your phone. Not even if you are at home on the same WiFi as the thermostat. Those connection problems don't resolve themselves until you unplug the thermostat and plug it back in. Very handy when you are not at home. Honeywell's Support department is not cooperating either. The Dutch department is only a conduit to the team in the US, so there is about a week of response time in between. It all seems very clunky.

I'm not happy with it because the app often crashes. Calling Honeywell's helpdesk takes a lot of time, you can be on hold for half an hour! I think there are far too few people who are not very helpful either.

Super thermostat, easy to install yourself, easy to set up, you can easily give multiple smartphone users access. If you leave home (with your smartphone), the geofencing will switch off your heating for you, which is really ideal.
