I was wondering if the companion app could also work offline. To test this I put the phone (iPhone) in airplane mode (with bluetooth turned on) and took a measurement. Without an internet connection, the measurement was still synced to my phone, so I conclude that the app continues to work, even if eg the server of Medisana would go offline.

There is one major drawback of the app. When installing, you are required to create an account with the manufacturer. You must give Medisana permission to share all your personal and vital data with third parties. You cannot create an account without this permission. So that's very unfortunate.
