According to our jigsaw expert
The jigsaw is a part of the Makita LXT 18V battery platform, so you can also use batteries from this platform on this jigsaw.
You can saw up to 135mm deep in wood, so you can saw thick materials without problems.
With the maximum 10mm maximum cutting depth, you can also saw in thick metal.
You don't get a battery, so you can't get started right away.
The Makita DJV181ZJ is a cordless jigsaw that can handle the most demanding saw jobs. It runs on an 18V battery (not included with this version) and has a useful T-grip, so you can maneuver it in all directions and even use it upside down. That's ideal for when you have to saw in a difficult angle. You still have a clear view of the saw line in these hard-to-reach spots, thanks to the built-in lighting and blow function. The DJV181ZJ is strong enough to saw up to 135mm in wood materials, even in miter. No matter which saw job you have, thanks to the 3 orbital action settings, soft start, and variable speed, you know for sure you can work in a controlled and efficient way.

This is my 4th makita 18v machine. Not a second of regret.

Works very fine. The sawdust is not blown away, you have to solve that yourself by blowing a little, or by connecting a vacuum cleaner. But I don't have a battery machine for that. Furthermore, it does not make too much noise, the light is nice and the soft start is also handy.
