According to our gaming headset expert
The Arctis 7 features the same high-end 40mm drivers as the much more expensive Siberia 800 series.
Thanks to DTS:X surround sound on PC, you hear sounds exactly as the game developers have placed the sound in the room.
The adjustable headband is interchangeable, useful if you want to personalize the headset.
The headset only works wirelessly via the USB receiver on PS4, PS5, and PC.
The tuning software is extensive, but adjusting it to your liking takes time.
The SteelSeries Arctis 7 2019 is a wireless gaming headset with which you'll hear in-game sounds exactly as the developers intended. On a PC, the headset makes use of DTS:X technology, with which developers can determine ingame sounds accurately and spatially in the game. On the PC, PS5, and PS4, you'll have wireless sound via the USB receiver. On the Xbox One, the XBox Series S/X, and mobile devices, you have stereo sound. Playing for hours is no problem, as the adjustable headband is also suitable for larger heads. The ear cushions are made from special breathable material that you normally find in professional gym clothes. The headband can also be replaced with a headband with another pattern, so you can always play in your own style.

The headset is really nice. The "ski goggles" headband is surprisingly comfortable and easy to adjust. Even after a few (game) hours I had little trouble with a pressing feeling around my ears or on my head. Especially when I compare this with my old Logitech G633 headset, which I could not bear after an hour.
The battery lasts a very long time. Around 20 to 24(!) hours on 1 charge. This is also partly because Steelseries has omitted the fairground lighting.
The range of the headset is also very good. I can effortlessly go through the entire house without losing the connection.
The microphone sounds clear and clean (if I am to believe other people on Teamspeak and Discord).
The big downside of this headset is the standard sound configuration. The sound is very faint out of the box. After some messing around with the equalizer, the sound is still very good. It is also advisable to use a third party equalizer to tweak the sound, because the options within the Steelseries software are very limited (Google is your friend).

I am very happy with these headphones. After using Razer Kraken 7.1 headphones for two years, the wearing comfort of the Arctis was a relief. The Razer Kraken clamps quite a bit on the ears, which becomes annoying during longer sessions. The Arctis does not suffer from this thanks to the fabric strap.
The software has some default sound profiles that I'm not fond of, especially when compared to the Razer Kraken 7.1. There are good descriptions online on how to configure the equalizer (using the Equalizer APO and the Peace Equalizer UI). In my opinion, this is a must if you are considering buying this product.
What I personally find it difficult to get used to is that the controls are on the ear cups. When you wear the headphones you have to find the right button by touch. The volume knob turns very smoothly so it's easy to adjust it while feeling. As I wear the headphones more often, I notice that I am less bothered by this adjustment, but it does take some getting used to.
The headphones have the ability to separate voice chat and in-game sounds. It is also possible to make one channel softer than the other, which can be useful if there are 'enthusiastic' people on Teamspeak...
All in all I am very happy with this product. Affordable wireless headphones capable of good sound. Recommended for anyone who wants to invest some time in fine-tuning

The headset arrived on a Saturday, though the sound configuration was a hassle. After some fiddling in the software it was fine, so now I could game and chat with full courage. I called Eureka with my booty, and the others in the chat were startled by the clear sound. So you can say I'm happy buying the Arctic 7 was a good idea!
