According to our network switch expert
With 8 network ports, you can connect wired devices.
Thanks to VPN passthrough, this switch is suitable for VPN connections that make your internet traffic anonymous.
You can't mount this switch in a server rack.
The switch doesn't have QoS to prioritize certain internet traffic.
You can provide a small office with 8 wired internet connections thanks to the Ubiquity UniFi Switch 8-60W. This switch has 4 network ports suitable for Power over Ethernet. This way, you can connect devices such as access points without needing an extra power socket. With the Ubiquiti Unifi Controller, you can manage all UniFi switches and access points in your network from the same screen. Mount the switch on the wall or under a desk.

Options
[In use with] I bought this switch to power my UniFi AP-AC-LR. It is also connected to a Unifi USG to complete the picture. I run the controller on an HPE Microserver Gen10
[Unboxing] The Unifi US-8-60W comes in a cardboard box, just like the other Unifi products. Ubiquiti does not use plastic for the packaging, which is very environmentally friendly. The box contains the following items
The last two items are for hanging the switch if you need it.
[Installation] The UniFi Switch is set to DHCP by default, which means that you can plug it into your network and it will request an IP address from the DHCP server. Booting/rebooting the switch isn't very fast, but it doesn't take long either. After the switch has had an IP from the DHCP server, it will be found in the Unifi Controller software.
[Configuration / In use]
The unifi switch can be fully configured via the Ubqiuiti controller software. The 4 POE ports can deliver a maximum of 15.4W per port. My AP-AC-Lite consumes 3.30W via the POE port so 15.4W is more than enough. By default, the ports are set to All, which means that they completely route all network traffic. If you have a USG you can create different VLANs and hard link them to a port. The device that will be connected to this port will then get an IP in the range of the VLAN DHCP.
[Conclusion] The UniFi Switch 8-60W is a great switch that can also be used without a USG. However, if you want to make optimal use of the Unifi eco system, you also need a USG.

I once started with 1 AP of ubiquity unifi. Once you get along well with the ubiquity unifi control center, things go fast. All my old stuff; other switches/access points/cameras soon went towards "trash bin". I now have everything from ubiquity unifi. You just have to really dive into the basics of networking to make it all come to its fullest.
