According to our smart home hub expert
Thanks to the voice control, you can control the hub without using your smartphone or tablet.
With extra Google Assistant speakers, you can easily create a multi-room setup and stream music throughout the house.
If you connect the speaker to a Google Chromecast, you can stream voice-activated videos to your TV.
You need a Google account to use functions such as calendar management.
To control a standard television with the hub, you need a Chromecast.
The Google Home speaker plays your favorite music and is your hands-free help around the house. The speaker can be set up for each language and country. You get the most recent information about things such as the trains, the weather, and the news from the country that you've set. This isn't available for Belgium yet. You can give commands to play music or to dim your smart lights. Thanks to voice recognition, you can use the speaker with up to 6 people. First connect the speaker to AC power, then use Bluetooth to link it with the Google Home app on your smartphone via Bluetooth. Adjust settings such as the language of the speaker and the temperature display. Do you have Google Chromecast? If so, you can use voice control to stream videos to your television via the speaker and connect the speaker to other Google Cast supported speakers.
Note: The Flemish version of Google Home isn't available yet. This means you use the Dutch or French version in Belgium. When you ask Google Home questions about the news or the weather, you get answers that are about The Netherlands or France. The other smart options, such as controlling your lighting, thermostat, or your music, are available.

Very good device. Better than Siri. Speaks nice Dutch but Flemish would be even better. It is not yet possible to add news from VRT via the App. Very good for setting timers and alarms. Have already purchased a Google Home mini for the bedroom via Coolblue. Not perfect yet but on the way to become it. Google supplies quality hardware and software! Am very satisfied.

Having already had 1 year of experience with both English Google Mini and Amazon Dot versions, we recently decided to buy the Google Home as well. Especially for the better audio quality compared to the Google Mini. The Home is well built, feels solid and sounds good. Installation was easy in the Google Home app on my Android phone. If you want a different language, you can easily change this in your Home app on your smartphone. Unfortunately, the Amazon Dot can only be used in English or German in our region. Unfortunately, after startup, the Dutch Google Home software did not function optimally. The Home sometimes didn't respond at all, and couldn't find my Philips HUE lamps either. He also often did not understand what I wanted. Now, after a week, everything is working better, and I can control all my Philips HUE lamps and the Nest thermostat, and it all functions reasonably well. In Dutch there are now always fewer functions and apps available than in English. I can't get voice match (voice recognition) to work either, so guests or family members can ask my Google Home for my private matters such as my personal agenda (G+) or Google reminders. The intention is precisely that every family member can request and use his own agenda, music, timers and reminders. Choosing a different voice for the Google Home also doesn't work (yet?). Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to link a Harmony Hub to our Dutch Google Home, despite the fact that a Harmony app is available in the software. Streaming from YouTube to a Chromecast on the TV works perfectly via the Google Home, and it automatically switches the TV on and off again. Conclusion: It takes some getting used to for the user to use the Google Home optimally. He can't handle words like 'heating', for example, but he understands 'thermostat' perfectly. The Google Home software is apparently also learning, and sometimes hard of hearing, but it gets a little better every week. It is a nice and handy device to have at home, with endless possibilities.
