According to our smartwatch expert
The watch uses data from other Garmin users to determine popular routes via roads and trails.
In addition to registering your route, the watch also uses a map to point you in the right direction.
Displays heart rate zones while you're working out so that you can work out with a specific target in mind, for example to improve your stamina.
Due to the advanced readings and functions, the watch is less suitable if you work out occasionally.
Garmin isn't compatible with all Huawei smartphones.
Are you looking for an outdoor sports watch? The Garmin Fenix 5s Plus is a good choice. Thanks to the GPS sensor and the GLONASS compatibility, you can easily navigate with help of maps on the watch. Load music to the Fenix and enjoy your favorite songs while training. Do you want to know exactly how intensely you're training? The heart rate sensor shows you which heart rate zone you're in. When you're in the woods or the mountains, you'll know exactly where you are thanks to the barometric altimeter and the 3D compass.
Note: an adapter isn't included. Do you want to charge the watch via a socket? If so, order an adapter separately.

I have had the product for a good week now and the first experiences are very positive. The watch looks great on a smaller wrist and the screen is easy to read in daylight and also with screen lighting in the dark. The wrist heart rate measurement works well, although a heart rate belt remains more reliable for interval sports such as squash, boot camp, etc., so I still use it in those cases.
The battery is now at 30% after 9 days, so that's fine (used at least the GPS). The GPS has a fast fix and good reception. The watch feels solid and the slightly stretchy and interchangeable watch strap ensures that it is comfortable. The fact that the heart rate monitor no longer protrudes, as with previous models, certainly helps.
Via the connect IQ store you can download watch faces, apps, widgets and data fields, which give you many more options, even navigation. However, not all apps are yet suitable for the Garmin 5S, because it has only just been released, so that is a disadvantage for now, but will undoubtedly change soon.
I also had to look for a screen protector, but eventually ordered a "6x Savvies Screen Protector for Watches (circular, Diameter: 36mm) Protection Film" from amazon, which fits perfectly. I deliberately did not choose a glass screen protector, because I have very bad experiences with it. With the Garmin Vivoactive HR, the original glass was broken after 1 week, probably because a glass protector is slightly thicker and therefore protrudes slightly. If you then tap it on the side, not only will the screen protector be destroyed, but also the original screen, because the glass transmits this tap hard. Plastic does not protrude and dampens a tap better. Of course it is more scratch-sensitive, but replace it a little more often.
Charging is relatively fast. I estimate that it will be fully charged again after about an hour. The charging plug clicks firmly into the watch, so it feels robust.
All measurements made by the watch (steps, sleep, continuous heart rate measurements) can all be viewed on the watch itself, but also via the Garmin Connect app. This works without any problems and synchronization is smooth. Many settings of the apps and widgets and also the settings of your watch itself can often also be adjusted via the app. That works so easily. I have also installed the latest firmware via the app. You had to do this by indicating from the watch via the menu that you want to install this version, but the version was already prepared via the app.
What I also like is that you can create your own sports. Sports such as squash, badminton, boot camp and cross training are not included in the standard apps, but you can create them yourself, so that they are logged in the desired way.
In short, after the first week so far satisfied. The price is of course very high, but you do have something nice for it. Let's just hope it lasts longer than my previous Garmin Vivoactive HR.

I use this timepiece as a regular runner. The fact that it also works with Galileo satellites certainly improves accuracy. This element has convinced me to choose the Fenix 5 plus instead of the regular 5. The result is really very good. An added value is certainly the music player and the maps with which you can easily navigate via the Sendpoints app. These things make the extra price justified. Furthermore, the device provides a fairly stable tempo display. This certainly seems better than in the previous versions. And of course, it also has countless options to guide your training. You do have to understand the menu structure, but that is not really a problem. The device also has all other options such as pedometer, built-in heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, barometer, compass, .... You can also install many apps on the device. The Garmin app is very complete and easy to use. In short, it is without a doubt one of the best devices on the market at the moment and that you can no longer do without, but you do pay a price for it....

After years of enjoying running with my Garmin Forerunner 220, I was ready for a new watch.
I returned the Garmin Vivoactive 3 to the store after three days. The touchscreen, together with the plastic housing, did not appeal to me.
Although I first had doubts about the Fenix 5s (after all, it is a big purchase) I decided to go for it. Coolblue's confirmation that I can just try it out for a short time and return it without any problems was the deciding factor.
I've been using the 5s for two weeks now and I must say I absolutely love it. The build quality is superb and the possibilities enormous. The battery lasts a very long time (charging once a week with 3 to 5 runs per week). In addition, you can easily wear it to work and other occasions, it definitely fits.
In short, this one is not going back to CB and will be my new faithful companion on my runs for years to come!
