According to our smartwatch expert
The activity tracker measures your steps, steps, calorie consumption and sleep.
With the integrated heart rate sensor, the tracker measures your heart rate via your wrist.
The Charge 3 display shows notifications and updates that you get on your smartphone.
The activity tracker doesn't have an integrated GPS sensor. It's possible to use the GPS on your smartphone.
This activity tracker doesn't have the contactless payment function, which the Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition does have, for example.
The Fitbit Charge 3 lets you keep an eye on how active you are during the day and you won't miss a single message. As an improvement on the Charge 2, the Charge 3 now has a large OLED touchscreen. This displays your heart rate, the number of steps you've taken, and the amount of calories burned, among other things. This way, you know exactly if you're on the right track while you're running or cycling. You also keep track of the amount of sleep you get and the different sleep phases. The Charge 3 is also waterproof up to 50 meters, so you can easily swim with it. In addition, the Charge 3 also displays messages and other notifications from your phone, so you don't even need to take your phone out of your pocket.
This watch is recommended for a wrist circumference of 13 to 15cm.

To start with: battery life is amazing; just hooked up to the charger after 8.5 days (day!) of non-stop use. Biggest advantage for me is sleep tracking I just really like to see and know more about it (for example I don't sleep as much as I thought actually), the silent alarm clock is great too I didn't think it would wake me up but never slept through and super nice for my partner who doesn't have to wake up from my alarm clock. Software is not quite perfect yet, I had already seen this in other reviews. Personally not a big deal for me but I imagine you'll sort of get there. A great example here is climbing stairs, I don't walk stairs. I live on the ground floor and only have classes on the ground floor so there are no stairs in my life most days. Still, sometimes it indicates that I have climbed ten flights of stairs in a day (one day it even indicated 40, while it was 0). This of course also affects things like calories you would have burned, but I don't take this too seriously so I don't mind. I recently tried swimming for the first time, because that is possible, because it is waterproof, but here it was not very strong either (understatement) I had swam for 56 minutes. My fitbit thought I did 90 laps in those 56 minutes, I don't know how many I did but that would be 1.5 laps per minute and I'm really not that fast. But I would only have burned 99 calories so something is not right there. What I really liked about him is running, there the data is just beating and clearly and it gives nice extra insights about average speed and distance and things like that that I would almost start running more of. Furthermore, it is of course the intention of the thing that you become extra active. You can set goals about number of steps, active minutes, hours you want to be active (take 250 steps every hour). This can really help but ultimately the power of this is memory and you have to do it yourself. If you get a reminder that you haven't moved that hour or haven't made your steps for that day yet, that could be just that push you need to walk another round. Or you are lazy, like me, and sit on the couch watching TV and stay put. Conclusion: Everything that is wrong with it I think is software, and software can be updated and I suspect that it will. For me, I get everything I want out of it and I get the insights I wanted. If you're really serious about sports and exercise and you care what your average swimming speed was, you can also take something else, but I'm happy when I went swimming. For the casual user this is fine I think

It is a beautiful watch that you can wear both casually and neatly. Activities are logged properly, only when tracking your swimming activity, the number of calories consumed is not calculated correctly. The others do. So if you buy it specifically for swimming, you'd better choose something else. The jobs are counted correctly.

After selling my Apple Watch 1, I hesitated between the Watch 4 and the Fitbit charge 3.
The AW 1 was a cool gadget at the time, but the battery life in particular was disappointing, and I couldn't swim or shower with the watch.
The AW 4 doesn't have those drawbacks, but $479 is quite a lot of money.
I also had a Fitbit One in the past, but I kept losing it because you had to fasten it to your belt.
Had a look at the Fitbit Charge 3 at a friend of mine, and after the good reviews on Coolblue decided that it had to be it.
The various features on the Fitbit really make me more active than I was a week ago. Sounds silly, but it really is.
For example, I receive a notification every hour if I have not achieved the 250 steps in that hour. I often walk to the coffee corner to achieve the goal for that hour.
When you reach 10,000 steps, you will receive a notification with a nice animation on your display. Good application of 'gamification'. Especially if you add your friends to the app and can view each other's achievements.
Notifications of phone calls, apps and the like on my iPhone also work fine.
The only real downside I think is that Fitbit doesn't work with Apple Healthkit. But the Fitbit app makes up for a lot.
Ordered at Coolblue, and picked up within a few hours in Utrecht, because I was in the area anyway. Still, it's nice once you've decided something, that you have it in your possession quickly.
