Replace current RT-AC87U for this RT-AX88U. What a difference!

The AX88U is a high-performance router, ready to use right out of the box with excellent performance. You can get even more speed out of it via tweaks (eg choose a channel with little traffic, use settings at 160 Mhz).

Transfer speed on 5 Ghz connection up to 75 MB/s or 600 mbps. Router is free at about 15 m distance from laptop. That amply covers the internet speed of the ISPs (max up to 400 mbps for consumers), so there is always enough power left in that area. Even with multiple users on wireless, the speed hardly drops. In combination with Devolo 1200 powerline very powerful throughput up to approx. 500 mbps.

Supported by Merlin firmware. Provides all options for security, protection, blocking. Reasonable app also to set and monitor key things. For gamers, in addition to QoS, additional opportunities to optimize (low ping, low latency) that do require registration.

AiMesh option with older and supported Asus routers (including the popular RT-AC66/68, RT-AC88) is icing on the cake. Please note, AiMesh does not work with an RT-AC87.

Great device! Due to recent renovations, we no longer had 'perfect' WiFi reception everywhere in the house. That's why I bought this new RT-AX88U. Among other things with a view to the 'AX future'. Then set up the existing RT-AC87U as an access point. I was already very satisfied with my existing router with the Merlin firmware. The Merlin software has also been installed on the new router. The range of the RT-AX88U has again been greatly improved compared to the RT-AC87U. The combination router and access point now ensures that we have a super signal throughout the house and garden. The XS4ALL Speedtest shows values that I have not seen before. Throughout the house depending on the location between 300Mbps and 525Mbps on my iPhone! The free WTFast option to boost 1 mac address is also very much appreciated by my gaming son. He says it's a huge improvement. I have always been a fan of the Asus network products and this is again a quality product. The router is very complete in terms of functions and the configuration possibilities (especially with the Merlin firmware) are almost endless.
