According to our camera lens expert
Thanks to the large zoom range, you can use the lens for sports, portrait, nature, and animal photography.
Thanks to the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, hand vibrations are compensated.
The aspherical and extra-low dispersion lens elements reduces spherical and chromatic aberrations.
Due to the maximum aperture of f/4.5, you create less depth of field.
The light intensity is reduced when you zoom in, which means hand-held photography isn't possible for longer amounts of time.
The Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS is a versatile telephoto lens for Sony mirrorless cameras. Thanks to its large zoom range, the lens is suitable for sports, portrait, nature, and animal photography. The Optical SteadyShot image stabilization compensates hand vibrations. This means hand-held photography is possible when you use longer shutter speeds. The design has aspheric and extra-low dispersion elements, which reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations. This results in clear recordings. In addition, the Nano AR coating reduces reflections and lens flare, which gives you a lot of color contrast in your photos. The linear autofocus motor allows you to silently and accurately focus, which means you can record clear photos and video images.

Telephoto lensI have been able to take a number of images so far and the lens exceeds expectations. The f4 is no obstacle in combination with the A7 cameras, the extra stop on the more expensive version (f2.8) will not be a loss. It is my first non-prime and G lens (use the zeiss lenses) and the sharpness is very good, the bokeh is beautifully soft.

Good addition to a basic kit. F4 is in most cases unless for specific low light tasks.
