According to our smartwatch expert
The Polar heart rate sensor with 9 LED lights is very accurate for a pulse measurement.
Uses your nightly recovery for a workout based on your fitness that day.
Take a moment for yourself with the Serene breathing exercise.
The watch doesn't support music storage, so you have to take your phone with you each workout.
The Polar Ignite is your digital coach when it comes to finding the right balance between being active and relaxing. During nighttime, the watch measures how you recover from the day by tracking the quality of your sleep and the activity of your autonomic nervous system. Based on this Nightly Recharge reading, the FitSpark training program recommends a workout that matches your physical and mental fitness. Are you up for intensive strength training today or are you better off taking it easy and stretching? The Ignite will tell you and show you the right exercises. Are you recovering well physically but not mentally, for example due to stress? The watch will advise you to do something that makes you happy, for example. The watch can measure your fitness level in under 5 minutes with a VO2 max measurement at rest. Do your best to reach the Polar elite level and become fitter than ever.
Note: a charger adapter isn't included. Do you want to charge the watch via a socket? If so, order a charger adapter separately.
22-07-2019 review Polar Ignite I've been using the Polar Ignite for 2 weeks now and I'm very excited about this sports watch. The watch looks like an ordinary and, in my opinion, beautiful watch. Case and silicone strap are comfortable and I wear the watch 7x 24 hours without irritation. Installing the Polar Flow App on the smartphone and Flow sync on the PC goes smoothly and the connection between watch and smartphone (via Blue Tooth) and the PC (via USB cable) is established smoothly. Syncing Polar and smartphone takes less than a minute. The quick start guide will get you up and running quickly with your Polar . The comprehensive manual can be downloaded from the Polar website on the Internet. The basic menu is logical and intuitive. The single button operation and touchscreen work excellent. Even during workouts with sweaty fingers. The touchscreen works, predictably, more erratic during showering/swimming, you'd better lock the screen. A drawback of the Polar Ignite is the screen that switches off very quickly to save battery. To reactivate the screen, turn the watch towards your face. Depending on the starting position of your arm with watch, the movement is often insufficient and you continue to look at a black screen. Fortunately, you can choose during a training via a submenu for “the lights are always on”. Polar better write “screen always on” here in the manual. And it would be even better if Polar would also make the option for "screen always on" possible in the watch mode in a next firmware update. For me, the heart rate measurement is one of the most important features. The added value of the "precision prime sensor fusion technology" applied by Polar is, in my opinion, clear. The watch finds your heart rate at lightning speed and the registration is constant/stable. My previous watches with wrist heart rate measurement regularly got lost in the Crosswalker, Rowing and strength training. The Polar Ignite remains constant. Even in the shower, the watch remains undisturbed in its measurement and this will probably also apply to swimming. You must now have very special reasons for still wanting to train with a chest strap. The functions “sleep” and “nightly recharge” are (especially in combination) very informative. Based on the registrations, the watch comes to a conclusion and makes recommendations that I have found to be valuable or useful. I am less impressed with the Serenity function. For me, this is a somewhat simple impetus and visual support for a breathing or relaxation exercise. Perhaps other users find this very valuable. I am still trying out the watch, but so far I am very enthusiastic.

I was looking for a replacement for my Fitbit Charge. Why? I wanted a watch that records my route, provides information about running speeds, enables heart rate zone training, and can (swim) in water. I already found Fitbit's sleep tracking interesting, so I didn't want to compromise on it. The watch also didn't have to be too bulky, since I have a small wrist and wear it during sports and work. With that, most Garmins already dropped out.
And suddenly there appeared to be the Ignite. A nice and not too big sports watch, with a pleasant battery life (4-5 days) and good heart rate registration. With that he already beat all android smartwatches in my opinion.
I've been using the watch for about two weeks now. It was a bit of a puzzle to get all settings right with the app (and that is mainly up to me, because I want to find out everything). With running it is very helpful with the interval training for the heart rate zones. The endurance runs are also well registered. When cycling, the current speed does deviate from my cycling computer, but a comparable summary is produced over the entire route. Nice to have those speeds in addition to the heart rate. CrossFit is not included as a sport profile, so I use functional training for that. Works fine.
The registered height differences of the GPS (I think) are incorrect. I have no idea what that's based on either. So I don't use that anymore.
What I do use is the Sleep Analysis icm. the training advice. Where I used to mainly follow my training agenda, I now let my watch 'advise' me and I shift my type of training. That Sleep Analysis is really impressive. Last weekend I didn't feel quite top, and that is also 'perceived' by the watch. The endurance training I had devised (and performed) felt worthless and lifeless. The watch already indicated that I should do a different type of training, but yes, stubborn. Fortunately, the watch just doesn't say 'I told you so' :-).
The training advice also gives examples of training, including exercises and description. Top!
Cons? Yes, the height measurement. And the lack of multisport mode (for the triathlon for example). Bright sunlight on it results in reduced legibility.
And as for the drawbacks mentioned by others: I have no problems with the touch mode. Syncing is perfect and easy. You can optimize battery life by turning off continuous heart rate measurement and not having the screen on all the time for endurance sports (I do when cycling).
