According to our smartwatch expert
With the integrated heart rate sensor, you can measure your heart rate via your wrist.
The watch counts how many calories you burn, so you can adjust your food accordingly.
The hybrid watch displays notifications on the screen and uses a light vibration.
The watch is only splash proof, so you have to take it off while showering and swimming.
The Fossil Collider Hybrid FTW7008 Brown is a combination between an analog watch and a smartwatch. The watch measures your heartrate, steps, and distance walked, among other things. In addition, the Collider Hybrid automatically detects your workouts. With movement memories, it motivates you to reach your steps target and to keep moving throughout the day. You can also set activity targets. So you'll get a notification if you've walked 10,000 steps in a day. You'll also receive notifications of incoming messages. Thanks to a small vibration, you'll notice the notification when you're not checking your watch. Don't want to receive these notifications for a while? In that case, turn on the 'Do Not Disturb' function. On top of that, you can control your music via your watch, so you can leave your phone in your pocket when changing songs.
Note: adapter not included. Want to charge your watch via a socket? Order an adapter separately.

Just like all Fossil smartwatches, this one is also very beautiful. This one is a bit thinner than the others, probably because it needs a little less computing power, and perhaps a smaller battery. Watch itself is beautiful, strap is neat and solidly finished.
The biggest plus of this watch is of course the battery life, if you take into account that this watch is partly a smartwatch. Two weeks is no exception, and that's really refreshing after basically all other smart watches have to be back on the charger within 1-2 days.
In terms of functionality I will be very honest; if you want a smartwatch, you shouldn't have this one. This is a normal watch, with connectivity and some smart features, but it definitely does not replace a normal smartwatch. I use the watch to tell the time (which makes sense), and I like the pedometer. In addition, I mainly use notifications, where I can see on my watch who is calling and from whom I receive an email/whatsapp/sms. I then read the messages again on my phone. The fact that there is no touchscreen (or a rotating bezel) makes this watch less easy to use. Still sufficient for me for what I want with it, but don't expect a full-fledged smartwatch.
In short, if you want a nice watch that is slightly smarter than a normal watch, on which you receive notifications, but if you don't mind continuing on your phone afterwards, you really want this one. If you want to pay with your watch, if you want to read and reply to messages via your watch, or if you want to install all kinds of apps, this one is not for you.

Great smartwatch if you're not a fitness freak and only need notifications from eg WhatsApp, want to control your phone and control music on your phone via the phone. The watch is elegant and looks very chic. Battery life is phenomenal. 10 days is definitely doable. Even with frequent use

This is the best smartwatch I've ever owned. What a beautiful look. You don't realize it's a smartwatch, but it is one. Had an Apple Watch for three years up to and including the third generation and was saving up for series 5 but much happier with this choice. An Apple Watch looks like a small phone screen on your wrist. This watch has an always on screen, but you can't see that because of the e-ink screen. It is very soothing to the eyes.
Many beautiful options can be devised by means of customizable watch faces. Battery only needs to be charged once every 2 weeks. Controlling music is easy from your wrist. Sleep tracking is automatic. Tracking workouts and activities is nice too, but doesn't sync with strava. The calorie count also seems too positive. If activity tracking is very important to you, this might not be the best smartwatch, also because the watch doesn't have a standalone GPS.
The watch also has some trouble with notifications. Although all notifications from apps can be received on your iPhone, there is no possibility to forward your do not disturb function from the iPhone to the watch. As a result, sometimes a vibrating watch at night. You can turn it off manually on the watch, by the way. Still, it is time consuming to clear all notifications later. And sometimes old notifications from a few days old reappear...
All in all, I go with this watch for the (customisable) looks, with the convenience of a basic smartwatch, for a good price.
