You only get one shot, don't miss your chance to blow.

Compact

User friendly
Fuel consumption and engine mileage increases significantly thanks to additional pleasure rides

It has been a long time since I bought a new camera and I am amazed by the quality, user-friendliness and robustness of the camera! That robustness will come in handy on our horseback trek in the Canadian wilderness and on a motorcycle!

Don't hesitate, you won't regret it!

GoPro HERO 8 is absolutely worth the money, the Hypersmooth 2.0 is insanely stable. Before you buy this product with the accompanying accessories, it is wise to check exactly what you are going to do and what you need. I chose this move while I should have bought the GoPro HERO 8 + chesty set.

I still ordered the chesty and so I have a fairly complete set to go in all directions. I Kitesurf, SUP and cycle a lot and I am very happy with the result.

I've added a few examples, unfortunately I can't post a video. The kitesurf shot is a screenshot of a video clip.

I had a few questions afterwards and as always good contact with customer service!

enjoy :)

Fantastic device that is quite expensive with all the extras

super small
beautiful sharp images
up to 10 m. waterproof
requires some practice (so don't buy 2 days before your holiday)

We went on vacation to the Maldives. These are islands (atolls) that you know from the Bounty commercials: snow white beaches and azure blue water with corals and a lot of underwater life. Beautiful. To save those experiences for later, I bought the GoPro Hero 8, while the 9 and 10 are already there. I looked at many comparative reviews on YouTube and decided that the Hero 8 works fine for me and it did.

I bought the GoPro about 2 months before our holiday, but I haven't really 'played' with it enough with the result that the images of the first days of our holiday have not turned out really nice. Tips:

Play with the GoPro frequently before your holiday, so that you know the device and its possibilities well.
Especially during snorkeling and diving it is difficult to look at the screen and to keep an eye on your subject. That's why you often film off-the-cuff. Therefore, consider carefully which lens mode (narrow, linear or wide) you want to use. I made a number of films in 'linear' mode where I had just too little of the subjects in view. Wide is then the better option.
Also try out the photo, time-lapse and hyper-lapse functions in eg a sunset.
You do not have the option to mount color filters on the GP Hero 8 itself. I bought an underwater housing with three color filters (red, light red and magenta). Find (again) some YouTube videos about the use of filters.
Keep in mind that you can just film a few hundred gigabytes of videos. I bought a 265 GB microSD card. That is enough for two weeks. However, our laptop didn't have enough disk space. Then consider an external hard drive or GoPro's Cloud service, where you can store your videos in the cloud. WiFi in your hotel room is a must.
One battery runs out pretty quickly. With two batteries I always had just enough power for an afternoon of filming.
Handy function: with the GoPro Quick app on your Android (IOS I don't know) smartphone you can operate your GoPro and you can access the videos and photos that you have made.
If you are swimming or diving in deep places, consider a floating stick (floaty). If you 'drop' the GoPro, it floats to the surface of the water instead of seeing it very slowly disappear into the depths.
Watch some videos on YouTube beforehand. There are plenty of videos with good tips and tricks.
Don't forget to film yourself and your travel companions too. Otherwise it will seem like you are watching a BBC documentary when you get home. I anchored the GoPro somewhere on the bottom (with rocks) a few times and then swam through the image myself.
Consider a longer (selfie) stick. I've had situations a few times where beautiful fish dived into crevices or rocks where I couldn't film them anymore.
The GoPro automatically rotates the image (and the recording) when you turn it upside down. Just keep in mind that the image no longer rotates DURING a recording!
With a photo it is 'click' and further. That doesn't move anymore. Remember to keep your subjects in the frame for about 5 seconds while filming. Otherwise your movies will be very restless. If you're filming super cool subjects (like a shark for example), you can set the playback speed to 50%, which will allow you to show 10 seconds of shark.
Leave the GoPro in the bag and enjoy everything else there is to experience.

Good luck!
