According to our smartwatch expert
Displays heart rate zones during your workout, so you can focus on improving your endurance, for example.
You can leave your phone at home when you go for a run, because you can use the watch to listen to your favorite playlists.
Look for fun or challenging routes on the internet and put them on your watch for navigation.
With a diameter of 50mm, the watch case is relativley large.
The battery runs out fairly quickly, but you can add to the battery life by turning on the energy-saving GPS mode.
The Suunto 7 is a smartwatch with sports functionalities. That means the watch tracks all your workouts, routes, and steps. In addition, you receive notifications from your smartphone and add apps like Google Maps to get even more out of the watch. You can see everything on the bright and colorful AMOLED touchscreen. Use Google Play Music to listen to music offline, so you can leave your smartphone at home. The large screen is convenient for reading notifications, but it does make the watch slightly bulky. The battery life is on the short side, but you can solve this turning on the energy-saving GPS mode, for example. With a water-resistance level of 50 ATM, you can also wear the Suunto 7 while you swim, do water sports, or dive to a depth of 50 meters.
Note: it doesn't include a charger adapter. Do you want to charge the watch via the socket? Order a charger adapter separately.
The device is for the avid athlete who also wants the smart features for business use, for example. If you really only want a tracker for sports, choose another watch.
Bought this watch last week as probably one of the first in NL to be able to take it directly for winter sports. First impression: Really a very nice sturdy sturdy clock. Insanely beautiful screen. Also the Suunto app with all the sports it supports are super cool. Too bad I had to return the device. Still bummed about it.
Once on winter sports, I did not get the watch properly charged. It stuck at 93%, and often didn't indicate that it was charging at all. I don't know what it was, because in NL the charging was working again. Couldn't turn on the device for at least a day, it didn't respond to anything. Finally able to use the watch for 2 days. If it works, it works well. I noticed that the Suunto consumes relatively little energy in a sport mode. The watch then uses a different processor and saving features of the main processor. Seems to work really well. In normal daily use, the device consumes quite a bit of energy. 2 days of use without exercise seems really the max before you can start charging again.
I also have a very bad experience with the connectivity with iOS. At first I did not notice that I no longer received notifications on the device. After exercise I noticed that the connection between the phone and the Suunto is pretty crap. Syncing almost didn't work. Have to reset both the Bluetooth connection and the Wear OS app and the Suunto at least three times. Then it worked for half an hour and then the watch lost connectivity again. I think this was more due to the installation of my (business) phone than to the Suunto, but I don't think it's possible that it just doesn't work at all. So pay close attention to what you want to sync the watch with and whether some sort of business security shell is installed such as Mobile Iron or Active Sync or the like). I have plenty of other bluetooth equipment that I connect automatically every now and then. The fact that it didn't work with Suunto is the main reason for me to return the Suunto. I wouldn't be surprised if I buy it again in the future when this problem is solved, because it really is an insanely cool clock.
If you have an Andoird device, then it is definitely recommended. If you have an iOS device, check if it may not be able to maintain connectivity to IoS properly.

I don't like it because, the battery is already empty when you look at it. And the fact Wear os is a real battery eater.

A huge improvement in all respects compared to previous Garmin sports watch. Better and more accurate GPS and heart rate.
