According to our smartwatch expert
Feel free to leave your wallet at home, because you can make contactless payments with your watch via Garmin Pay (depending on your bank).
Displays heart rate zones during your workout, so you can focus your training on your endurance or burning fat, for example.
With GPS and GLONASS, the watch determines your location, speed, and route more accurately than similar watches.
It's not possible to reply to incoming messages via the smartwatch.
The watch doesn't support music storage, in contrast to the Garmin Venu Sq Music.
WIth this Garmin Venu Sq Gray, you can work on your health and fitness. This square Venu model is a good basis to track daily activities. The Venu Sq measures your heart rate and stress level, so you know when you need to relax with breathing exercises or mindfulness. Thanks to the built-in GPS receiver, you can leave your smartphone at home while running. The watch tracks your route for you. Want to listen to music while running? Take your smartphone with you, since this Venu Sq doesn't have an independent music player. You can also pay with your watch via Garmin Pay. The Venu Sq also tracks workouts, such as running, strength training, and pilates. The Garmin Venu Sq has an LCD display, which is relatively dark but energy efficient.
Note: a charger isn't included. Want to charge the watch via a socket? Use the charger of your smartphone or order a charger separately.

Options
This Garmin is intended for people who want all the sports functions that Garmin is known for, but just a little more in a smartwatch jacket. You don't get all the functions that you get on a Forerunner watch, but that is only necessary for a specific group. On this watch you get accurate GPS tracking, you can train based on heart rate through notifications of too high/low heart rate and you can, for example, see your cadence when running. Many different sport profiles are also supported. Furthermore, all measurements are accurate (as far as I can determine), the LCD screen is many times nicer than the MIP screens on, for example, the comparable Vivoactive 4(s) and the watch does not look like a sports watch, which ' m also suitable for casual wear.

This Garmin is different from many others because it looks much more like a normal smartwatch, while still retaining all the sports functions. The heart rate measurement is accurate and the GPS also works well, exactly what you want with a sports watch. An external heart rate belt is also easy to connect. There are also nice smartwatch features, such as short replies to messages. Disappointments are the battery life (this always arrives at a maximum of 2 days with the screen) and some minor software problems. For example, I can't adjust the volume of my earphones from my watch, so I can't listen to music with these earphones while exercising, while that was exactly one of the main reasons for buying this watch. Hopefully this will be resolved with a software update.
All in all, this is a very good watch that looks nice and does what it promises. The problems I have with it are unfortunate, but manageable. The combination of the casual look, the beautiful LCD screen (especially compared to the MIP screens of other Garmins) and the preservation of the sports functionality make this watch a clear difference from other Garmins.
