When I first started using the GO Discover, I was immediately pleasantly surprised. A complete package that was easy to install. Very user-friendly, a child can do the laundry. Just follow the steps on the device and the device is really ready to use in no time.
Linking the Go Discover to the mobile phone is also very simple. That significantly increases user value. It is important for the reception of the traffic information that you not only switch on Bluetooth, but also the so-called tethering (= personal hotspot). Without that, the device will of course also work, but you will miss that very good traffic information that is really excellently taken care of at TomTom. It all uses so little data that you really don't have to worry about your data credit being consumed by your TomTom.
The 'search function' works really well, where in addition to addresses, zip codes, etc., you can also search by category, such as gas stations, restaurants and much more. That works super fast.
The traffic information that is provided is really very up to date, as I have experienced several times. Traffic jams and delays are displayed very reliably in terms of topicality and traffic jams can be avoided if desired. The file with the detested speed cameras is also up to date, which can save you quite a bit of money. Your purchase price can even be quickly earned back if you sometimes have the tendency to drive (slightly) too fast (and who doesn't do that every now and then?). The same applies to the petrol prices that apply at gas stations along the route, just pay attention to the TomTom for the current price, you can save quite a bit.
Keeping the maps up to date is a piece of cake, if there is a connection to the WIFI, the device automatically indicates that there are updates of maps and whether the speed camera file is available. Updates are offered with great regularity and downloading updates is really super fast via 5GHz WIFI.
The display is absolutely clear, the quality of the maps is high and the directions are not misinterpreted both visually and by voice. The speaker gives a very good sound and the sound level is easy to adjust, while there is a choice of many voices.
There is a wide choice of what information you want to see on your screen, there you can fully use your personal preference – again in a particularly user-friendly way. Arrival information, petrol stations on the route, parking spaces, etc, it is all very clear and useful.
There is of course much more to write, but I am just a very satisfied user of this device. What I particularly like is that the operation of the device is actually immediately clear to the largest layman, you do not have to follow a study, the way is self-explanatory.
The device can also be controlled with your voice (voice control). There are all kinds of possible voice commands built-in ("go to an address" and many more commands I won't mention here). It is self-evident. That works really well in my experience.
For enthusiasts, it can be noted that, for example, at home on your computer in TomTom MyDrive you can make entire routes in advance and then send them very easily to the device, the so-called synchronization. Less important if you want to quickly get from A to B, but again if you want to make a travel schedule in advance for the holiday. Works really great.
Is there nothing to remark? Perhaps, but I haven't found any objectionable points in the time I've been using the device. I definitely consider it a responsible purchase and that 7 inch screen is great and clear.
