I've had this set for a few weeks now. Therefore, I cannot give a review here, based on a long experience with the MB4045. But what I know now and can serve as a help to any other buyer is described in detail below.
So far I like the whole set very well.
A good, clear user manual (including in Dutch) is included with, among other things, a few handy tables with adjustment heights for the various shaving combs.
The device feels a bit plastic-like, but is still solid and fits well in the hand (banana-shaped).
The device has a powerful motor and drives the large and mini trimmer well. Glad you have a lot of choice to trim your beard in lengths (from 1 - 35 mm!).
The battery has a nice long operating time (according to the statement 120 min.). After the first charge, I still haven't had to recharge the battery so far, even though I use the device regularly. Charging takes 4 hours. Fully discharged once every 6 months and then fully charged again.
The smallest shaving comb ('Stubble comb' > 1 - 5mm) has a separate wheel on top with which 0.5mm settings can be set. This allows you to work with super-accuracy.
The other two shaving combs ('Short Adjustable Comb': 1.5 - 18mm / 'XL Adjustable Comb': 20 - 35mm) have non-continuous teeth, as there must be room at the top for the trimmer's teeth to pass through. should be able to work.
The big disadvantage of this is (I have experienced with trimmers from another brand) that this type of comb teeth only has a very small attachment point on the comb. This makes it easier for them to break down. With trimmers, where the teeth do run all the way through, this risk is much smaller (I've noticed with other trimmers I've used). So be very careful with these two combs during use!
The shaving combs must be slid into the intended guide slots of the appliance with a small lug - inside the bottom on both sides. This is a bit stiff in the beginning, so don't force it, but slide it in carefully until it 'clicks'.
Unfortunately, the shaving height adjustment wheel cannot be locked after adjustment and can therefore quite easily be 'rolled' to another position during use.
Next to this wheel is a reasonably legible window in which the current setting can be seen.
During shaving, the beard hairs come over the entire surface of the device and inside the shaving comb. A cleaning brush is included, but I prefer a narrow brush with soft, long bristles.
The large beard brush makes a solid impression and brushes the beard hairs well. I think the hair of the brush is a combination of real and synthetic hair. The wood of the brush (Satin wood, was unfortunately not nicely finished > sharp edges, but with fine sandpaper, some time and a little white beeswax the wood does indeed feel nice satin soft. Moreover, the brush now looks really luxurious > nice grain ).
The scissors are unbranded, but of good size and work well. You may have to tighten the adjusting screw after using it for a while.
The mini trimmer is on the same side as the large trimmer and only comes on when you unfold it. I found, when using this one, that the large trimmer (which just stays on) cuts into the beard with ease. That is of course not the intention, so that's why I made a simple accessory from thin foldable plastic (from some kind of packaging, but you can also use thin cardboard). I put this attachment over the shaving teeth of the large trimmer using a crosswise elastic band when I use the mini trimmer. It doesn't look very professional, but it does the job well. The mini trimmer is namely 'driven' by the large trimmer. So it makes no sense to temporarily remove the foil from the large trimmer to protect your beard if you want to use the mini-trimmer, hence the need for the attachment I made.
There is a 3 year warranty on the device and after registration with Remington this is extended to 4 years.
